Porsche Taycan

The interior layout of the Porsche Taycan carries forward the clean and futuristic visual appeal of the exterior. While the cabin layout might look simple at first, the Taycan will impress with the focus on tech and premium appeal of its cabin. It was the first Porsche to feature a full-TFT screen for the instrument console, with another screen in the middle for the touch-controlled infotainment system. The Taycan is available with a host of upholsteries and types of seats to choose from. 

The width of the cabin of the Porsche Taycan is enhanced by the horizontal layout of the upper layer of the dashboard. In the middle, the touchscreen infotainment system is placed in between the cascading centre console, which flows down in an inclined manner. This centre console gets an additional touchscreen in its lower part, which controls various drive, in-car, and climate functions. 

With the Taycan, Porsche has shown how its offerings in the future will look like. Porsche has taken the current-generation design language and has added a few more changes to make this all-electric grand tourer worth noticing on the roads and give it its own identity. With this attempt, the Porsche Taycan has ended up becoming one of the most futuristic and desirable electric cars in the world.

The Porsche Taycan looks sleek and very attractive when viewed from the front, where it gets all-LED headlamps with wraparound housings. These headlamps incorporate LED projectors and quad daytime running LEDs around them. The lower parts of the headlamp housings flow down towards the bottom corners of the front bumper. The Taycan misses out on a proper functional grille, which makes the front profile look even sleeker and cleaner. However, there’s a compact air dam present in the middle of the clean-looking front bumper. 

The four-door Porsche Taycan has a traditional grand tourer look and design for its side profile, with elements like frameless door panels and a rounded roofline. The well-contoured front and rear fenders and door panels, along with flush-type door handles, make the Taycan look very aerodynamic. The futuristic look of the Taycan is further enhanced by the clean design of the alloy wheels. Adding more aerodynamic touch to the design of the Taycan are air passages placed within the front bumper and fenders. 

The rear profile of the Porsche Taycan has a coupe-like roofline with a steeply-raked windscreen, much like what we have seen in other Porsches like the 911 Carrera and Panamera. This design theme, along with contoured rear fenders, gives the Taycan a squatted stance. On the sides of the rear profile, the Taycan has slim LED tail lamps with an LED light bar connecting them. 

Like all the other models of Porsche, the Taycan is one dynamically-sorted car with little room for flaws in its driving dynamics. The Taycan is offered with features like adaptive air suspension, Porsche Active Suspension Management, Smart Lift, Rear Axle Steering, Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control Sport, Torque Vectoring Plus, and 4D Chassis Control for a fine and precise driving experience. In addition, the Taycan also gets drive modes, active aerodynamics, and launch control. 

While the base-spec Taycan comes with a single-motor configuration powering the rear wheels, the higher-spec variants come with a dual-motor configuration giving it an all-wheel drive setup. Talking about the base-spec Taycan, the single electric motor produces 326 PS of power and 345 Nm of torque. The Taycan also comes with a 79.2 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, which claims a range of 302 km and takes 8 hours for a full charge using the standard AC charger offered with the car. 

As expected, the Porsche Taycan justifies its premium positioning with several high-spec safety features, including airbags all around, ABS with EBD, traction control, vehicle stability control, hill hold assist and hill descent control. It also gets a wide suite of ADAS features.

Compared to the thrilling Porsches we have encountered in all these years, the Taycan offers an altogether different experience. While it retains the focus on performance from its ICE-powered stable mates, it does that in a very calm and unique manner, thus offering a wholesome experience never experienced before.
