  • About Volvo Malaysia

Known for its history in safety, the cars manufactured by Volvo have often been tagged as the safest automotive around the world. The Volvo Car Corporation was founded by SKF (Svenska Kullagerfabriken). Taking off in 1927, the brand started functioning as a company for roller bearing manufacturing. With destiny being ready for something else, the brand was later interested in producing cars and manufactured their very first car which went by the name Jakob in the year 1927.

Just like any other unstable automobile company, the brand Volvo has undergone a series of changes. With its primary focus on improvements of their vehicles and occupants’ comfort, the brand made its name around the globe.

However, the brand also went through a change in management and ownership and was handed over to Ford Motor Company’s Premier Automotive Group in 2008. Previously, Volvo was occupied by the Chinese automaker Geely Automobile in 2009.

Building its base around leading innovations, the company in its initial stages was directed by Industrialist Assar Thorvald Nathanael Gabrielsson. For improvement and advancements in the technical fields, the post of Technical director was given to automotive engineer Erik Gustaf Larson.

Being the parent company and developers of seat belts, Volvo shot itself into overnight success when it didn’t go ahead for patenting the innovation. Moreover, due to the safety provided by the vehicles, it is also a favourite for its customers. However, it was not only the road vehicles that Volvo was interested in, but the brand also took active Rally racing in the year 1965.

In Malaysia, Volvo is distributed by organizations such as Volvo Malaysia, Volvo Malaysia Sdn Bhd, and Sisima Auto. Different models of Volvo cars are available in Malaysia such as Volvo XC90, S90, XC60, XC40, and S60 2020 models. The Volvo XC90 2020 edition is the latest car which is gradually gaining its availability in Malaysia.

    • Volvo XC60 A Stable, Confident Drive with a Touch of Scandinavian Charm

Owning the Volvo XC60 has been a pleasure from day one. The car’s stability is exceptional, performing beautifully in both wet and hot Malaysian weather. It’s incredibly easy to drive, and the steering wheel responsiveness makes every journey smooth and confident – whether you’re cruising along the highway or navigating city traffic. For potential buyers, the main consideration would be

    • EX30, small but drive beautifully

Good balance between comfort and handling. Seats are great, very comfortable. I like the simplicity using recycle meterials. Its not easy and cheap to procude but they did it to ensure that carbon footprint is kept as minimal as possible. Ambient lighting is superb, its a scandinavian touch reflecting Geely's support to Swedish Volvo's corporate philosoply. Nonetheless, i wish if

    • Predictable charging, solid build quality

It has been eight months with the Volvo EC40, and what I like the most is how, over time, it has made me forget range-related anxiety that I had about EVs. I was constantly calculating range in the beginning, but the EC40 has proven to be far more reliable than my expectations. The charging curve of this car is predictable,

    • Disappointed by battery woes and fit and finish

Sadly, I expected the Volvo XC90 to be a peach of a car, but in reality, it has turned out to be a lemon! I was quite happy during the first few months with this car. And then I started having problems with the battery. The third row can’t fit any adults but only children under 10. The fit and

    • Car-like driving stability, SUV-like hauling capacity

I rave about the modern features and great handling of the Volvo V60. It comes with many excellent safety features and a user-friendly touchscreen. I especially appreciate this vehicle’s ability to drive around town on electric power. It is one of the most beautiful-looking wagons on the market. The interior is very roomy and feature-rich. It offers me a car’s
