Volvo EX90

With minimalism and elegance at their best, the cabin of the Volvo EX90 is high on tech, with the interior of the all-electric SUV having Nardico upholstery with dawn headlining, birch décor, premium textile-finished floor mats, jewel-design air intake controls, tailored dashboard and door panels and jewel-design controls for the centre console knobs. 

Behind the four-spoke multi-functional and power-adjustable steering wheel, the Volvo EX90 has a full-TFT 10.25-inch instrument console. At the heart of the centre console is a huge 14.5-inch portrait-inspired and slanted touchscreen infotainment system, which houses controls for the 25-speaker Bowers-and-Wilkins audio system with Dolby Atmos surround sound and four-zone automatic climate control.

The cabin of the Volvo EX90 is further equipped with premium features like powered and ventilated front seats with massage function and memory function for the driver’s seat, powered side bolsters and lumbar support, ambient lighting and rear AC vents. The boot space of the EX90 is 324 litres with the third-row seats up and 697 litres after folding the third-row seats, with the EX90 also having a frunk.

The stance and overall silhouette of the Volvo EX90 are similar to that of the XC90, which makes the road presence of the full-size electric SUV commanding. At the front, the Volvo EX90 has a futuristic-looking fascia, comprising of Thor’s hammer-inspired digital pixel LED headlamps with LED DRLs and a closed grille with Volvo’s traditional logo in the middle. 

The side profile of the Volvo EX90 looks very similar to that of the XC90, with the former also having 20-inch machined alloy wheels, slim roof rails and muscular fenders, while also having flush-type door handles and power-adjustable and foldable floating outside rearview mirrors.

At the back, the EX90 further distinguishes itself from the XC90 with its distinctive C-shaped LED tail lamps on the sides of the boot lid. These tail lamps are further accompanied by an LED connected light bar between them and pixel-themed auxiliary LED tail lamps on the sides of the rear windscreen. 

For a comfortable drive experience, the Volvo EX90 has been bestowed with an active four-C chassis with four-corner adaptive dampers and an electronic rear air suspension. This setup continuously adapts to the surface conditions and alters the damping force, making the balance of ride quality and handling optimal at all speeds and terrains. The EX90 also has ride height adjustment and off-road modes for keeping the ride quality optimal even when the going gets tougher. 

The Malaysian-spec Ultra variant of the Volvo EX90 comes armed with a dual-motor setup, which gives this SUV an all-wheel drive configuration. This dual-motor setup delivers a maximum power output of 517 bhp and a maximum torque output of 910 Nm, making the EX90 the most powerful all-electric vehicle from Volvo to date. The Volvo EX90 claims a top speed of 180 kmph and a 4.9-second time for the 0-100 kmph sprint. Also offered in the Volvo EX90 is a huge 111kWh battery, which delivers a range of up to 623 km. 

The Volvo EX90 ranks very high when it comes to safety, with the full-size electric SUV loaded with safety features like advanced sensing technology, headlight cleaning, door opening alert, run-off-road mitigation, pedestrian, cyclist and scooter steering avoidance, intersection auto-brake, blind spot information system, driver understanding system, collision avoidance and mitigation, rear cross-traffic alert with low-speed auto brake, connected safety, occupant sensing. 

Besides these advanced safety functions, the Volvo EX90 further gets eight airbags, ISOFIX mounts for child seats, ABS with EBD and brake assist, tyre pressure monitoring system, hill hold control, hill descent control, electronic stability program with traction control, front and rear parking sensors, 360-degree parking camera with 3D view and park assist, pilot assist and head-up display.
