2019 Toyota Corolla hatchback unveiled ahead of the New York Auto Show launch

KUALA LUMPUR: A car’s successor is always eagerly awaited, and when it’s the next generation Toyota Corolla, the world just cannot wait. The car is coming in hatchback body style, instead of the expected sedan format. With a shape familiar to the Geneva debut Auris, the new Toyota hatch is expected to go on sale post its 2018 New York Auto Show showcasing.

The design differences between the Auris and the new Corolla hatchback especially on the front are quite clear. Toyota has made necessary adjustments in Auris design to make its western sibling, the Corolla hatchback USA autoregulation approved. The changes include - a shift in the driver's arena to the left, change in headlights pattern, and mandatory inclusion of amber corner lights.

The car will be first launched in the USA with all the setups specific to the country, and therefore it should receive a warm reception from the customers. Unlike the exterior, the cabin gives a clear preview of the next-gen Corolla Altis. The dash features a new minimalistic design that makes way for toggle switches and subsides the hard buttons. The driver will be able to witness a floating screen at the centre of the dashboard, and the sleeping lines will be visible clear and crisp.

Under the hood happen to rest a brand new direct injection Dynamic Force 2.0-litre engine also known as the M20A-FKS. It will be paired with a six-speed manual transmission as well as one intelligent CVT mode option.
