2023 Honda CR-V leaked via patent filing
KUALA LUMPUR: It’s no secret that Honda is working on the sixth generation of the popular mid-size SUV, the CR-V, that is expected to be unveiled in the coming months. Well, before something official comes, here we get our first unofficial look at the upcoming CR-V, courtesy of a patent filing published on a Facebook page named Vanhoe Rage.
KEY TAKEAWAYS
What does the 2023 Honda CR-V leaked image reveal?
The leaked image of the upcoming Honda CR-V reveals a cleaner and mature front fascia of the SUV featuring a squared-off grille with a trim running across the top and merging into the headlamp panels.Which engine options will be available with the sixth-gen Honda CR-V?
The sixth-gen Honda CR-V is likely to get two hybrid powertrains, along with the ongoing petrol mill.In the sole patent filing image, we can clearly see the front fascia of the revamped CR-V. It gets a squared-off grille with a trim running across the top and merging into the headlamp panels. The latter also looks quite wider and slimmer as compared to ongoing units. The lower intake and bumper of the SUV appear cleaner now with a less slopping hood offering the car a different stance.
Along the side of the model, we can notice a sharp shoulder line like the one available on the new HR-V and Civic. The patent filing does not reveal the rear fascia of the SUV, however, as per the recent spy shots, the upcoming CR-V will be getting an upright boot lid and high-positioned, C-shaped tail lights.
Just like the rear, there is no interior shot available as of now. The reports suggest the SUV may get more rectilinear dash kitted with a new infotainment system and hidden air vents. A bigger digital instrument cluster could also be on the cards.
On the mechanical front, the 2023 Honda CR-V is likely to get two hybrid engines, one of which will combine the electric drive with a 2.0-litre gasoline mill while the other is said to be a 2.0L i-MMD Sport Hybrid borrowed from the Accord. Besides these hybrid powertrains, the SUV would continue to get energy from the ongoing 1.5-litre turbocharged inline four-pot gasoline mill. It generates a maximum power of 142 PS at 5600 rpm and a peak torque of 243 Nm between 2000-5000 rpm.
Well, that’s all we know about the sixth-generation Honda CR-V at the moment. But we have our eyes and ears wide open for any update on it, so stay tuned.
