Audi Sport to introduce new RS models soon
KUALA LUMPUR: Audi Sport, the performance arm of the German automaker is set to introduce six new RS models by the end of 2019 - as suggested by a recently released teaser image. These models will follow the eight S models that were introduced earlier this year - S4, S5, S6, S7, S8, S6 Avant, SQ7, and SQ8.
Up until now, the range-topping Audi RS models were identified by their oval exhaust units along with a few other things. However, from now onwards, we’ll be able to recognize them by the signature LED daytime running lights shown in the teaser image. The first two cars in the dark lineup teaser image could be the next RS7 Sportback and the forthcoming RS6 Avant. These cars are expected to propel 600 hp of maximum power.
The centre pairing is most likely to be the sleeker-roofed RS Q3 Sportback and RSQ3. Further, these cars being the compact ones in the range are expected to be powered by the company’s latest iteration of an inline 5-cylinder turbocharged engine that is likely to offer 400 hp. These will rival against the Mercedes-AMG GLA 45.
The fifth model in the dark six-model teaser lineup is a low-sling entrant that is most likely to be the facelifted Audi RS4 Avant. The fast wagon is expected to be powered by the same engine unit producing 450 hp and 600 Nm and an 8-speed transmission unit. The updated interior trim and infotainment are essential updates.
Rounding up the six-model Audi teaser is the RS Q8 - the tallest one in the upcoming range. It is the non-identical twin of the Lamborghini Urus and will be powered by a 4.0-litre V8 bi-turbo unit that is likely to poop 650 PS and 850 Nm.
