Bentley Bentayga V8 announced in Malaysia; starts at RM 1.58 million

KUALA LUMPUR: The Bentley Bentayga is one of the fastest and most luxurious SUVs available in the world. It shows off its performance prowess all because of the mighty 6.0-litre W12 engine. However, for some enthusiasts, this powerful engine was perhaps a bit too much, therefore, Bentley Kuala Lumpur has announced the availability of the Bentayga V8 in the country.

Unlike the W12, the Bentayga V8, like the name suggests, features a smaller engine. It’s smaller but still more than capable to put many sports cars to shame. It’s a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine that has been tuned to churn out 543 PS of max power and 770 Nm of peak torque. The power is transmitted to all the four wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission.

These figures enable Bentayga to cover 0 to 100 kmph journey in just 4.5 seconds and flat out it will reach a top speed of 290 kmph. If you look at the performance numbers of the Bentayga W12, you’ll notice that there isn’t that big of a difference. The elder sibling does the 0-100 kmph sprint in 4.1 seconds and has a top speed of 301 kmph.

Bentley has not cut down on features on the Bentayga V8 just because it’s a smaller variant. The list of features is still endless and include titles like multi-mode air suspension system, predictive adaptive cruise control, hill descent control, night vision, autonomous parallel, and perpendicular parking. Bentley’s iconic All-Terrain Package is also available and provides 8 driving modes. And to put all the power to a halt, the brakes on this mighty SUV are top-notch and the largest ever fitted on a production car measuring at 440 mm each. The option of going with the carbon ceramic brakes is a bonus.

In terms of looks, the Bentayga V8 is similar to the W12 variant. In short, it just looks fantastic. The interior is as luxurious as it gets with some new features like high-gloss carbon-fibre finishes, matt carbon-fibre surface to replace the veneer trims option, and a wood and hides trimmed steering wheel.

The Bentley Bentayga V8 price has been set at RM 1.58 million without any optional accessories.
