Lamborghini working on an all-electric sports car, Terzo Millennio concept revealed

KUALA LUMPUR: As the automobile world is all gearing up for the electric revolution, the Italian auto giant, Lamborghini has revealed its progress in the particular segment. At the ongoing tech conference of Massachusetts Institute of Technology, EmTech, an all-electric Terzo Millennio concept has been revealed by the manufacturer.

The name indicates that the brand is gearing for the ‘third millennium’, which is most likely to be dependent on renewable sources of energy. In order to get more grunt, the concept utilizes kinetic energy recovery system and to improve the battery technology, it is also working on developing a supercapacitor. Another area, which the manufacturer is looking to improvise is on reducing the overall weight of the car. For the concept, Lamborghini has used carbon fibre which is further backed by sensors that help the car in monitoring its own structural integrity by highlighting the cracks or damage in the bodywork.

The concept will have the capability to heal itself, which will be done with the help of the micro-channels of the carbon-fibre bodywork. By working with MIT, the manufacturer is looking to develop a new way of producing carbon fibre. As the concept lacks the traditional four-wheel drive engine, the brand took this opportunity to work on improving the aerodynamics of the vehicle. Further, it will be working on improving the sound of the car.

Stefano Domenicali, Chairman of Lamborghini said, “Collaborating with MIT for our R&D department is an exceptional opportunity to do what Lamborghini has always been very good at – rewriting the rules on super sportscars. Now we are presenting an exciting and progressive concept car. We are inspired by embracing what is impossible today to craft the realities of tomorrow: Lamborghini must always create the dreams of the next generation.” Let’s see when we get to see the production version of this out-of-the-class concept from Lamborghini.
