Mercedes-Benz recalls vehicles fitted with Takata airbags in Malaysia
KUALA LUMPUR: The Takata airbag recall is one of the largest recalls ever in the history of the automotive industry, involving more than 100 million vehicles. Several automakers have issued massive callback notices for millions of cars fitted with defective airbags. Recently, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia also announced a safety recall for specific models that may have been equipped with faulty Takata airbags.

The car owners can check their vehicle VIN on the Mercedes-Benz microsite http://mb4.me/airbagrecall or by calling the company’s Customer Care Centre 1-800-88-1133 to confirm if their vehicle has been identified for this voluntary monitoring program. Upon confirmation, the customers are requested to contact their preferred Mercedes-Benz authorized dealer for the airbag replacement, which will be done free of charge.
With the safety of customers on the top priority, Mercedes-Benz started this worldwide recall of Mercedes-Benz Cars, Vans, and MB Trucks in mid-2019. Since then, the automaker has been closely working with authorities and Joyson Safety Systems (successor organization Takata) to exchange faulty airbags.
Further, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia and Daimler AG reassure the customers that all presently produced MB Passenger Cars are no longer equipped with Takata airbags which have ammonium nitrate as the primary propellant.
