Proton e.MAS is growing fast in 2026, and PRO-NET is building the network to match

KUALA LUMPUR: PRO-NET, the sales and distribution arm handling Proton's electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles, is pushing ahead with a network expansion off the back of a strong start to 2026 for the Proton e.MAS brand.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • How much did Proton e.MAS sales grow in 2026?

Proton e.MAS recorded 11,617 units sold between January and April 2026, a 329.5% increase compared to the same period in the previous year.
  • Where are the two new Proton e.MAS outlets located?

One is along Jalan Sultan Ismail in Kuala Lumpur city centre, next to an existing Proton showroom. The other is inside Pavilion Bukit Jalil, making it the brand's latest mall-based outlet.
  • Between January and April this year, Proton e.MAS moved 11,617 units, a 329.5% increase compared to the same period last year. That's a significant jump by any measure, and it puts the brand among the faster-growing EV nameplates in the country right now.

Two new outlets, one new look

This month, PRO-NET opened two additional Proton e.MAS outlets. The first sits along Jalan Sultan Ismail in KL city centre, next to an existing Proton ICE showroom. The second is inside Pavilion Bukit Jalil, continuing the brand's push into shopping mall spaces where foot traffic tends to skew toward lifestyle-conscious buyers.

Both outlets carry the updated Proton e.MAS corporate identity, which brings in refreshed colour schemes, premium finishes, and more digital touchpoints throughout the showroom. The idea is to make the buying process feel less like a traditional car dealership visit and more in line with what EV buyers have come to expect from newer brands.

The updated look will eventually roll out across the rest of the network, though PRO-NET hasn't given a fixed timeline for that.

    Where the network stands now

Proton e.MAS currently runs 53 sales outlets across Malaysia, which makes it one of the larger NEV-specific dealer networks in the country. The network supports around 1,600 staff across sales, servicing, and admin roles.

"The rapid growth of Proton e.MAS in Malaysia is driven not only by the strength of our product lineup, but also by the confidence customers have in our sales and aftersales ecosystem," said Zhang Qiang.

"By establishing a strong support structure alongside every model launch, we can give customers greater reassurance about the long-term ownership experience while strengthening brand loyalty and advocacy.

"We target to continue expanding our outlet network and as we do so, Proton e.MAS will be able to reach more potential EV buyers while delivering a higher standard of customer care and convenience," he added.

What this signals for the EV market

Malaysian EV buyers are increasingly looking beyond just the car itself. Charging access, aftersales support, and the overall ownership experience are becoming bigger factors in purchase decisions. PRO-NET's push to grow its physical footprint and upgrade its retail environment is a direct response to that shift.

With 53 outlets already in place and more planned, Proton e.MAS is positioning itself as a long-term player in the local NEV space, not just a brand riding a wave of early EV enthusiasm.
