Suzuki Jimny teaser released, launch soon in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: Suzuki made a bold comeback to Malaysia with the launch of the Swift Sport earlier this year. And, now it is geared up for rolling out its another gem on the local shores, which is none other than the beloved Jimny. Suzuki’s official distributor Naza Eastern Motors has just teased the mini off-road SUV on its social media account along with a caption “the one and only…returns.” Although there is no mention of the date, the teaser hints at the imminent arrival.

Back in July, the company’s CEO, Datuk Nik Hassan confirmed the launch of the fourth-generation Jimny for Malaysia in the second half of the year. The SUV will be available as a fully imported CBU unit from Japan.

While the details on the Malaysia-spec Jimny are scarce, we can refer to the version available in the global markets.

The SUV features a boxy exterior design with a retro stance having a front five slat grille and round headlamps on the front. Fog lights, drip rails, high-mount stop lamps, and rear defogger are among the other significant exterior features. 

Dimensionally, it is 3,550 mm long, 1,645 mm wide, 1,730 mm tall, and has a wheelbase of 2,250 mm. It rides on 15-inch wheels shod with 195/80 AT tyres. Built on a ladder frame chassis, the vehicle has a ground clearance of 210 mm and a turning radius of 4.9 metres. 

The fourth-generation Jimny is fitted with a 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated four-cylinder mill that generates a maximum power output of 102 PS and a peak torque of 130 Nm. It is mated to an AllGrip Pro four-wheel-drive system along with an option of a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission.

The Jimny specs sheet may also include a 7-inch Smartplay infotainment system, a cruise control, leather steering with call/audio controls, an automatic air-conditioning system, two airbags, ABS, hill hold control, hill descent control, electronic stability control, reverse parking sensors, and ISOFIX child seat anchorages.

Well, for the exact specifications, we need to wait for its debut that does not seem far away.
