Introduction

The sporty looks of the hot new looking Suzuki Swift Sport have come out with few new amendments in the hatchback segment. The new Swift Sport has made its significant place in Malaysia since its launch in the auto markets and is equipped with flawless features in-and-out. The entry-level version of Swift Sport had also won the Car Buyer's Best Hot hatchback award in the year 2013. Continuing the league, Suzuki has again manufactured an affordable car and is highly admired by people that make the company one of the world's largest automakers.

Engine, Mileage and Variants

Beefed up with a piston displacement of 1586 cc, Suzuki Sport delivers a peak power output of 136 PS at 6900 rpm and churns a peak torque of 160 Nm at 4400 rpm. This compact hatchback is equipped with an M16A type engine having 4-cylinders-16-valves which is mated with a 6-speed transmission. Delivering an impressive top speed of 195 kmph in 6 MT mode and 185 kmph in CVT mode, the car lets you feel the pace while accelerating in 8.7 seconds from naught to 100 kmph. It has a dwelling fuel tank capacity of 42 litres and returns a fuel economy of 18.75 kmpl that is aided by the low weight of the car.

Exteriors

The Suzuki Swift Sport not only flaunts an amazing and eye-catching external features but also has a powerful existence among the other hatchbacks in its class. The external characteristics include sporty- front and rear bumpers mated with side-under spoiler and rear-end spoiler to encourage aerodynamics. The overall dimensions carried by Suzuki Sport includes 3890 mm x 1695 mm x 1510 mm (L x W x H) along with providing a wheelbase measuring 2430 mm offering sufficient legroom and headroom for all the occupants. The minimum ground clearance counts to 130 mm which is pretty decent for a sporty compact hatch. The sporty 16-inch aluminum alloy wheels along with tires measuring 195/50 R16 ensure a powerful grip on varied terrains.

Interiors

Even though the car is a compact hatchback, it still provides sufficient space to all the occupants. The new Suzuki Swift Sport is blessed with leather covered 3-spokes steering wheel for driving comfort & a 12V interior accessory socket to charge your gadgets while driving. Endowed with a comfortable seating capacity of 5 persons at a time, this Suzuki drive has got numerous other features like air conditioning facility, pollen filter and heater to ensure utmost comfort during the drives. A decent entertainment system comprising CD player and MP3 playback along with 4 speakers and 2 tweeters are also given in this drive. Talking about the boot space provided in this sporty car, it measures to 210-litre which can be further enhanced by split folding the 3 rear seats to flat. The Sport version also carries stylish ergonomics; outlined in red colour, to let the occupant feel happy owning this car. There are few attractive traits also; especially for the utility purpose inside the car, that include bottle holders and cup holders.

Safety, Braking and Miscellaneous

Safety has been an important concern while producing any vehicle and the Japanese manufacturer has taken absolute care of equipping the Suzuki Swift Sport with protective aspects. The new Swift Sport is constructed using a considerable amount of high-strength steel that makes the exterior body stiff and rigid and is capable of absorbing the impact energy during any adverse condition. The car is packed with ventilated disc front brakes and disc brakes at rear mated with MacPherson strut & Coil Spring front suspension and Torsion beam & Coil Spring rear suspension. In the case of car theft attacks, the engine Immobilizer and security alarms are another features that help to keep the vehicle absolutely safe. To prevent the occupants firm on their respective seats, 3-point ELR seatbelts with pretensioners force limiters and height adjusters are provided in this Suzuki car. Further, to optimize this protection system, 6 standard airbags at the front, side, driver knee and overhead are provided in Swift Sport.

Verdict

Suzuki Swift Sports gives an overall muscular and sporty feel in the segment of compact hatchback cars. As compared to its rivals, it provides less power, torque and boot space in the petrol version and somewhat similar in the diesel versions. Yet, it overrides the competitors in fuel efficiency and offers best price range.
