Updated BAC Mono arrives with 305 hp
KUALA LUMPUR: The BAC Mono was always a quick car, but the 2016 model gains an even larger power figure from the Briggs Automobile Company, thanks to the new 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine from Mountune, that delivers 305 hp but has no additional weight.
The updated BAC Mono has recently been launched at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Its on-board telemetry systems show a run in just 47.9 seconds, which is up the famous hill. Though this is an unofficial time, it is the fastest run ever recorded by a road car.
The most astonishing aspect of this run was that the test driver, Oliver Webb, was using a prototype version of the 2.5-liter engine without pushing the car to its limits. The previous 2.3-liter Cosworth engine had 25 hp, less than its new 2.5L counterpart. The weight of revised car is just 580 kg, providing it an incredible power-to-weight ratio of 526 hp per tonne. The 2016 model has a drive-by-wire control and bespoke driver fitment that incorporates a custom steering wheel and tailor made driver's seat.
The company is comfortable in making one Mono a month at its Liverpool factory, which is engaged to export potent race cars to the American and Asian market. Company already has a US importer, which has already delivered few Monos.
