Volkswagen Touareg SUV gets an upgrade for 2023

KUALA LUMPUR: Volkswagen has given a mid-life upgrade to the third-generation Touareg unveiled back in 2018. The latest version of the automaker’s flagship SUV boasts subtle design enhancements and an updated equipment kit over the predecessor. 

The bookings of the Touareg facelift model are now underway in Germany. It is offered in four variants - Base, Elegance, R-Line, and R at a price starting from EUR 69,200 (RM 342,723). 

Let’s get to know the changes in detail -

• The SUV gains a new grille that emphasises the vehicle’s width in a better way
• The reshaped grille is flanked by the new IQ.Light HD LED matrix headlights comprising a total of 38,432 micro LEDs
• Each headlamp also features three L-shaped LED elements that form daytime running lights 
• The rear end also benefits from a new light bar containing unique graphics

• Also new for the 2023 model year are a red-illuminated Volkswagen logo and four new wheel designs. The latter includes - 19-inch Coventry, 20-inch Braga, 21-inch Napoli, and 21-inch Leeds styles
• Inside, it gets the Innovision Cockpit as standard which comprises a 12-inch digital instrument panel and a 15-inch touchscreen infotainment unit

• The sat-nav and voice control systems are now improved while the Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity is now wireless 
• The dash panel features redesigned illuminated trims that go well with high-gloss black buttons and volume dials positioned on the centre console
• Also available as optional is a 730-watt Dynaudio sound system and head-up display
• Part of the advanced driver-assistance suite are - Front Assist, Park Assist, Lane Assist, Dynamic Road Sign Display, Travel Assist Area View Trailer Assist, and Night Vision

The Europe-spec 2023 Volkswagen Touareg is offered in five 3.0-litre V6 engine options delivering a maximum power of up to 455 hp.
