VW Tiguan Allspace R-line updated for 2021
KUALA LUMPUR: Volkswagen Malaysia launched the Tiguan Allspace just last year and now it receives a mid-2021 model year update. The subtle technological revision put it in the same league as the facelifted Passat and the Arteon.
It is to be noted that the update is only limited to the R-Line variant.
The trims standard equipment list includes -
- Black VW decals on the B-pillar
- Sportier bumper design (both front & rear)
- Intricate full-LED tail lights
- Body-coloured cladding
- 19-inch Sebring alloys
- Flat-bottom steering wheel
- Alloy pedals
- Side sill panels
- Sport seats
- Black headlining
- Pill-shaped USB Type-C ports (replacing the previous rectangular Type-A port)
- Upgraded Discover Pro infotainment system with the same old
- 9.2-inch touch screen with touch-sensitive controls for power, volume, home, and menu
- Newly added second page with a favourites panel and several vehicle functions
- Apple CarPlay connectivity operating wirelessly via Bluetooth (for Android a cable is still required)
Rest all the other features offered as standard in the pre-update model are there, the kit includes - LED headlight, powered taillight, reverse camera, 12-way power-adjustable front seats with memory, 12.3-inch digital instrument display, triple-zone climate control, leather upholstery, eight speakers, keyless entry, push-button start, and leather upholstery.,
Under the hood, the Tiguan Allspace R-Line continues to feature the same 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo mill that pumps out a maximum power of 220 PS and a peak torque of 350 Nm. The power is transmitted to the wheels via a 7-speed DSG wet dual-clutch gearbox and 4Motion AWD. The latter ensures excellent response, traction, superb handling, dynamics, and optimal handling.
Like the engine, the safety specs also remain unchanged. The list consists of 6 airbags, stability control, ABS with EBD & BA, and ISOFIX SECOND-ROW CHILD ANCHORS. The car misses out on the driver assistance system like autonomous emergency braking and others.
