Honda CB650R Neo Sports Cafe completes the lineup
KUALA LUMPUR: The concept form of the Honda 650 cc Neo Sports Cafe was teased at the Paris Motor Show last month. It managed to garner a lot of praises and attention among the two-wheeler enthusiasts. And due to this amazing response, the company went ahead and unveiled it at the EICMA motor show in Milan.
The Honda CB650R is based on the same platform as the CB650F and the CBR650F. And with the CB650F being given the retro treatment, just like the CB1000R and the CB250R, the Neo Sports Café lineup seems complete now.
However, it is to be noted that Honda has not just made a newly designed bike based on the CB650F but has added a lot of features too. For example, speaking about the electronics, the new CB650R Neo Sports Cafe gets the company’s Selectable Torque Control which was first given for the Africa Twin. Apart from this, there is also the addition of a slipper clutch and ultra-modern instrumentation, as the company calls it.
Moving on, the Neo Sports Cafe has the 41 mm Showa SFF (Showa Separate Function Forks) suspension up front, which seems to be different than the Showa Bending Valve Forks of the CBR650F and CB650F. Plus, the front brake discs of the CB650R have the four-piston calliper that is radially-mounted.
Moreover, even the engine has seen a boost in power with a 5% increase. Hence, the power output now lies at 95 hp. This, along with the 6-kg reduction in weight over the CB650F, will surely help in getting the performance higher.
There is a very high possibility of the new Honda CB650R Neo Sports Cafe entering the Malaysian market. But as of now, there isn’t any confirmed news about the same.
