Modenas Malaysia turns 30; launches new ELIT 150S scooter

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia’s national motorcycle manufacturer and member of the DRB-HICOM Group, MODENAS (Motosikal dan Enjin Nasional Sdn Bhd), has completed its 30 years of operation. To commemorate this milestone, the brand has introduced an all-new premium scooter, the ELIT 150S. 

Catering to the needs of modern-day riders, the new Modenas ELIT 150S aims to set a new benchmark in the 150-cc scooter segment with its contemporary styling, advanced technology, and everyday practicality.

Modenas ELIT 150S: Key highlights 

• The scooter has a bold, modern styling with twin-eye LED headlights, DRL, tail light and flashers, offering a premium look. 
• The ELIT 150S comes with ergonomic seating and relaxed riding positions for both rider and passenger. Adding to the convenience are a smart key system, spacious 23-litre under-seat storage, front pockets, a USB charging socket, and hazard lights.

• Offering the rider all driving-related essential info is an easy-to-read LCD instrument panel that has a better daylight viewing angle than TFT.
• Powering the new Modenas scooter is a 150-cc Euro 4-compliant, liquid-cooled engine that kicks out a maximum power of 14 hp at 8,250 rpm and a peak torque of 13.5 Nm at 6,750 rpm. The engine is paired to a CVT transmission and a belt final drive.
• The setup promises strong performance with fuel efficiency, with a 12-litre fuel tank providing a range of up to 480 kilometres on a single fill.

• It rides on 13-inch wheels wrapped with 110/70 front and 130/70 rear tyres.
• The suspension setup comprises telescopic forks at the front and twin shock absorbers at the rear, while the braking is managed by single hydraulic disc brakes at both ends. 
• Priced at RM 7,877, the new  Modenas ELIT 150S comes with a two-year or 20,000 km manufacturing warranty (whichever comes first),

The launch underscores the brand’s commitment to delivering reliable, stylish, and future-ready mobility solutions. It is part of Modenas’ broader strategy to strengthen its premium scooter line-up and regional footprint. 

With that said, the company is set to expand its presence in high-growth markets, including China, the Middle East, and the Philippines. In addition, it is committed to investing in advanced R&D, sustainable technologies, and talent development in particular through Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) initiatives.
