BMW 4 Series Coupe

The entire cabin layout of the BMW 4-Series Coupe has been retained from the pre-facelifted version of the BMW 3-Series sedan. However, to make it feel different and more exclusive, BMW is offering multiple leather upholstery options, such as leather 'Vernasca' Tacora Red decor stitching with Black leather, leather 'Vernasca' Black decor stitching with Black leather, leather 'Vernasca' Mocha decor stitching with Black leather, leather 'Vernasca' Black/contrast stitching Blue with Black leather and leather 'Vernasca' Oyster decor stitching with Black leather. All these upholstery options get a common aluminium Tetragon finish for the contrast trim on the dashboard and door panels.

Behind the three-spoke multi-functional steering wheel garnished with satin silver inserts, the BMW 4-Series Coupe features split screens, with a full-TFT cockpit with a BMW Professional display for the instrument console in a dedicated housing and a trapezoidal touchscreen infotainment system. The centre console here has a large hexagonal panel comprising of AC vents with satin silver surrounds and a slim lower centre console for sleek-looking buttons for the automatic climate control. The 4-Series Coupe shares many of the features with the pre-facelift 3-Series sedan, some of which are powered and heated front seats, wireless charger, push start-stop button and dual-zone automatic climate control.

The BMW 4-Series Coupe has always been positioned as a sportier and more premium-looking coupe version of the 3-Series sedan with little differentiation between them in their appearance. However, BMW pushed the bars higher in exclusivity by giving the 4-Series Coupe a design of its own, which looks different and well-distinguished from the 3-Series sedan.

The front profile of the BMW 4-Series Coupe replaces the slimmer-looking double kidney grille with a much larger and more aggressive-looking vertically-laid double kidney grille. With a chrome studded design, this kidney grille has chrome surrounds and is flanked with slim-looking, wing-shaped all-LED headlamps, comprising LED projectors and dual C-shaped daytime running LEDs. To make it look more aggressive when viewed head, the BMW 4-Series Coupe also comes with bold-looking air inlets on the corners of the front bumper, which also house tiny LED fog lamps within them.

The side profile of the BMW 4-Series Coupe looks more charismatic with its sloping roofline and two-door look, which instantly make it feel special over the 3-Series sedan on which it is based. The smooth contours and roofline and the 19-inch M Light alloy wheels make it look graceful, with the chrome surrounds for the large window panels further adding a premium essence to the design.

The rear profile of the BMW 4-Series Coupe holds little distinction over the 3-Series with its different-looking sleeker combination LED tail lamps, though it gets license plate housing on the boot lid itself. The rear bumper here gets slim and tiny air curtains on the corners and a wide diffuser with dual chrome-plated exhaust ports.

Apart from the engine, the BMW 4-Series Coupe shares the basic architecture and suspension setup with the 3-Series sedan, with the former also having stiffer springs for the M Sport suspension and electrically assisted steering with a perfectly balanced weight on offer.

The only engine and transmission combination offered in the BMW 4-Series Coupe is a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine and an 8-speed automatic transmission, which has been shared with the 330i sedan. This engine develops a maximum power output of 260 PS and a maximum torque output of 400 Nm while claiming a fuel efficiency of 15.15 kmpl, a top speed of 250 kmph and a 0-100 kmph sprint timing of 5.8 seconds. 

The BMW 4-Series Coupe comes equipped with a decent number of safety features, the list of which includes front, side and curtain airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist, parking assistant with lateral parking and reversing assistant, front and rear parking sensors, reversing camera, cornering brake control, dynamic stability control, dynamic traction control and BMW connected package professional.

While the front styling of the BMW 4-Series Coupe is subjective, it still looks like a finely designed car with the right proportions, sportiness, performance, driving dynamics and the oomph of a traditional two-door sports coupe.
