Kia Carnival

Just like on the outside, the interior cabin of the Kia Grand Carnival welcomes you with its XXL theme, with the overall cabin feeling very spacious. The large seats, dual tone black and beige theme and large side windows make the cabin feel airy.

The dashboard has a functional layout, but it manages to look elegant due to the wooden inserts complementing the dual tone black and beige theme. The round themed steering wheel and simple meters make the driver’s cockpit look quite boring, though. However, the entire instrument console is housed in a faux wood panel, which extends towards the center console and also houses the large touch screen infotainment system.

Despite proving its priority of function over form in its design, the Kia Grand impresses with its long list of comfort and convenience features, some of which are a dual-zone climate control system with rear AC vents, leather upholstery, touchscreen infotainment system with reverse camera and audio system with six speakers, push-button start with keyless entry, height adjustable driver’s seat and electrically adjustable and foldable rear view mirrors. The large dimensions make the interior cabin very spacious, by translating a generous amount of knee room, legroom and shoulder room in all the three rows.

Thanks to the large dimensions from every angle, the Kia Grand Carnival succeeds in demonstrating an impressive road presence.

At the front, the Kia Grand Carnival too features a “tiger nose” chrome grille like all of its siblings. The daytime running LEDs and projector units integrated within sleek looking units make the front fascia of the Grand Carnival look elegant. Adding furthermore, premium appeal to the frontal stance of the Grand Carnival is the chrome garnish around the LED fog lamps.

The long wheelbase and stretched side doors with sliding-type opening for the second-row doors give the Kia Grand Carnival an elongated stance. The richness of the otherwise simple looking side profile is evident due to the chrome surrounds on the side windows and machined alloy wheels. The only design aspect of the side profile which catches your attention especially is the small kink past the C-pillar.

It is the rear end design of the Kia Grand Carnival which makes it look very staid. The small rounded-rectangular tail lamps make the rear profile look a bit dated, while the large rear windshield only adds to the boxy design of the MUV.

Under its frame, the Kia Grand Carnival has been fitted with a simple suspension setup of MacPherson Strut with Stabilizer and Multi-link at the front and gas type shock absorbers at the rear. The large 18-inch wheels make the ride quality of the Grand Carnival feels plush and supple over broken surfaces as well.

Kia is offering a 2.2-litre turbocharged four-cylinder diesel engine as the only engine option to power the Grand Carnival. Shared with the flagship SUV, the Sorento, this engine is coupled to a 6-speed automatic gearbox and it produces 300 PS of maximum power output and 450 Nm of peak toque output.

To justify its premium appeal, the Kia Grand Carnival features some premium safety features, like front, side and curtain airbags, ABS with EBD and Brake Assist, front and rear parking sensors with rear view camera, Blind Spot Collision Warning with rear cross traffic alert, Hill Start Assist and Electronic Stability Control.

The large dimensions and premium feel-good factor in its design in and out give the Kia Grand Carnival an impressive road presence, which is a rare thing for an MUV. The interior cabin space and long list of features make the Grand Carnival a grand place to be in.
