The Japanese automaker has created a unique designed vehicle with off-roading capabilities and a sturdy appearance that stands aloof of the other SUVs on the road. It was first introduced in the year 2001 with the name Mitsubishi Airtrek and was based on the Mitsubishi ASX concept vehicle. The name “Airtrek” was chosen because it portrays the ability of the vehicle to transport its occupants on adventure-packed journeys in a “free-as-a-bird” manner. By now the brand has produced three generations of the SUV which have maintained a good place in the automobile markets.

Interior & Features

The cabin is fully loaded with extreme level of utilitarian features like the Automatic Climate Control system and a 6-speaker 140-watt AM/FM/CD/MP3 audio system that provides best possible entertainment to the occupants. The dash is equipped with FUSE Hands-free Link System with USB port, a full colour LCD Multi-Information Display and two-12-volt power outlets. The power gripped tyres are measured as 225/55 R18 which is supported by the strong alloy wheels of the size R18.

Engine & Fuel Consumption

The giant SUV comes geared up with a powerful 2.4-litre Mitsubishi Innovative Valve timing Electronic Control (MIVEC) engine which delivers a great power of 167 PS at 6000 rpm along with returning an overall torque of 222 Nm at 4100 rpm throwing back immense potential over the road while in speed. The Outlander comes with a six-speed transmission that brings about an ordinary acceleration which in return provides better efficiency. Having a fuel tank capacity of 63-litre, the SUV returns a decent fuel economy of 7.8 kmpl which is comparatively better than most of its rivals.

Braking Safety

The SUV is blessed with the most advanced safety features to ensure the safety of the occupants, which include 7 airbags. The Outlander also comes equipped with R.I.S.E Body construction (Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution) which greatly enhances the passenger's protection. In addition to this, the Active Stability Control (ASC) is present to employ sensors that monitor the grip of tyres and work in sync with the ventilated disc brakes backed with Anti-lock Braking System (ABS). Hill Start Assist (HSA) controls the vehicle during uphill and downhill movement which is supported by the Traction Control System (TCL) that provides maximum control over the driving while the car is taken on unforeseen road conditions.
