2020 Audi e-tron Sportback debuts
KUALA LUMPUR: Audi has finally unveiled the production version of the all-new e-tron Sportback, which is the carmaker’s second full-electric e-tron model. The car comes with a coupe-esque appearance and has two powertrain options.
On the mechanical bits, the base e-tron Sportback 50 quattro variant’s powertrain is capable of pushing out a maximum power of 312 PS and the peak torque is 540 Nm. It takes just 6.8 seconds of time to complete 0 to 100 kmph sprint and the top speed of the car is 190 kmph.
The powertrain segment also includes a 71 kWh lithium-ion battery, which can provide a total driving range of 347 km. It supports 120 kW DC fast charging and according to the carmaker, the battery can be refilled up to 80% in just 30 minutes.
On the other hand, the top of the range variant e-tron Sportback 55 quattro has two electric motors, which are capable of providing a maximum power of 355 PS along with a peak torque of 561 Nm. With boost mode activated, the motors can offer a maximum power of 402 PS and the peak torque is 664 Nm. Normally, the car can complete the century sprint in just 6.6 seconds, while running in the boost mode the time to complete the 0-100 kmph sprint drops down to 5.7 seconds.
The motors are accompanied with a 95 kWh lithium-ion battery, while only 83.6 kWh of it is usable. It is capable of providing a driving range of 446 Km. The battery supports 150 kW DC fast charging, which helps to refill the unit up to 80% in just 30 minutes.
Design-wise, the e-tron Sportback comes with a singleframe grille along with the world’s first digital matrix LED (DML) headlights. The front bumper is a bit more aerodynamic than gas air curtains. The car rides on 20-inch wheels, while these can be upgraded to 22-inch items.
Getting inside, the new e-tron Sportback comes with a dual-touchscreen setup, that comprises of a 12.1-inch upper unit, 8.6-inch bottom unit and MMI touch response infotainment system. There is also a 12.3-inch Audi virtual cockpit and there is an option to get the Audi connect and MMI Navigation plus.
