2020 Renault Espace - Details out

KUALA LUMPUR: Renault has taken the wraps off the 2020 Espace. Considered as one among the most popular family-friendly vehicles, this flagship model has received some modest updates along with new tech and safety equipment.

Design-wise, the European-spec Renault Espace is getting subtle tweaks. It will be the first Renault model to get the new LED Matrix adaptive headlights. Other notable features are, taillights with redesigned LED signature, an updated rear bumper having a new skid plate, etc. Additionally, the range-topping Initiale Paris variant will get a new front design. A huge glass roof comes as standard for the car.

Stepping inside, the new Renault Espace gets some noticeable changes that include the new infotainment system containing a 9.3-inch portrait-oriented touchscreen display with support to Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. There is also a 10.2-inch digital instrument display having a 3D navigation screen.

Coming to the mechanical department, the new Renault Espace comes with a 1.8-litre four-cylinder petrol unit. It is capable of churning out a maximum power of 222 hp. The engine is mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.

On the other hand, there are dual 2.0-litre diesel engine options. The first among these can provide a maximum power of 158 hp, while the latter can make a maximum power of 197 hp. The power is sent to the wheels via a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. It is available with three different driving modes - Eco, Comfort, and Sport.

The 2020 Renault Espace now gets a Level 2 automated driving system, which can be activated between 0 to 160 kmph. The system includes Advanced Park Assist, Stop & Go function for driving on the highway, Active Emergency Braking, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, etc.

The updated Espace will reach European markets by spring 2020.
