Renault introduces the final RS model, the Megane RS Ultime

KUALA LUMPUR: Renault has pulled the wraps off the last variant of the Megane RS, called the Megane RS Ultime. It serves as the final model of the brand’s performance sub-brand ‘Renault Sport’ which started in 1976. The upcoming performance vehicles of the company will carry Alpine branding. 

Let’s check out the key highlights of the all-new Megane RS Ultime - 

• The swansong model comes with exclusive cosmetic updates such as bold black diamond-like decals on the roof, rear bumper, doors, fenders, and bonnet, which seem inspired by the brand’s new logo

• All exterior logos and door handles, window frames, fender caps, and rear diffuser are also finished in black

• The hot hatch runs on Fuji Light 19-inch wheels shod with Bridgestone Potenza S007 semi-slick tyres 

• Under the hood of the last RS model lies a 1.8-litre turbocharged engine which churns out a maximum power of 300 hp and a peak torque of 420 Nm. The power is sent to the wheels via a dual-clutch transmission paired with a Torsen mechanical differential and a 4Control four-wheel steering

• In terms of performance, the new Megane RS Ultime can run from zero to 100 kmph in 5.7 seconds

• Inside, the new Renault model confirms its identity with a special numbered metal plaque signed by Laurent Hurgo, the man who holds Nürburgring, Suzuka, and Spa-Francorchamps lap records.

• The hatchback features Recaro bucket seats covered with titanium black Alcantara upholstery featuring RS monograms

• Also part of the kit are RS Vision LED headlights, a 10-inch digital instrument cluster, a head-up display, a 9.3-inch infotainment unit, Bose sound system, a sunroof, adaptive cruise control, and a surround-view camera

Renault will build only 1,976 units of the all-new Megane RS Ultime, The four exterior colour choices will include - Pearl White, Tonic Orange, Sirius Yellow, and Star Black.
