2021 Mercedes-Benz CLS Class comes with extensive technical updates
KUALA LUMPUR: Gone are the days when a luxury car was only known for its premium creature comforts and exquisite interior stuff, as advanced technology distinctively defines the luxury. For that matter, here we bring a piece of good news for buyers considering the purchase of a Mercedes-Benz CLS four-door coupe.
Mercedes has given an extensive technical update to the CLS 450 and CLS 450 4MATIC, and AMG CLS 53, these models will now have the latest-generation Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) multimedia system and the most enhanced driver assistance features.
The MBUX system manages infotainment, driver assistance, and other vehicular functions of the car. It comprises two 12.3-inch high-resolution digital displays placed adjacent for a widescreen effect. The system boasts superb graphics and highly legible text in high visual quality.
The artificial intelligence technology further enhances the learning and predictive abilities of the system. With the help of these, it can predict what the driver will do next. For example, if you call someone on the drive home every Monday, MBUX will remind you to call that person by displaying his/her phone number on the screen. The system also has powerful voice recognition software, just say, "Hey, Mercedes," to wake up the artificial intelligence assistant.
Not only this, but MBUX also has a navigation system that uses augmented reality to display navigation info on the screen, such as arrows on the map, traffic light status, and addresses. One other optional feature is MBUX Interior Assist, which can control some of the functions by mere gestures.
The CLS also receives the latest active driver assistance systems, which enable the car to react, even when the driver is unable to do so. It includes active brake assist, cross-traffic function, active speed limit assist, traffic sign assist, active distance assist DISTRONIC with route-based speed adaptation, and active stop-and-go assist.
The 2021 Mercedes-Benz CLS is slated to go on sale in the United States by the end of 2020, although the local launch is not yet announced.
