7-seater Jetour VT9 SUV teased for Malaysia; launching soon

KUALA LUMPUR: After introducing the Dashing SUV earlier this month, the Chinese brand Jetour is now ready with its second model, the VT9, for Malaysia. The automaker has begun teaser campaigning for the upcoming SUV on its social media handles.

The Jetour VT9 is a 7-seater D-segment SUV that made its first local appearance at the Malaysia Autoshow last year. 

Just like the Dashing, the upcoming Jetour VT9 also hails from the brand’s family travel series and has gained wide recognition globally. Notably, the SUV is offered with a different name in other markets.

Jetour VT9: What to expect

Dimensions

The VT9 is ideal for family journeys and measures 4,724 mm in length, 1,900 mm in width, and 1,720 mm in height. The wheelbase is estimated at 2,720 mm. As for luggage, it can accommodate up to 1680 litres of cargo in the boot section with all seats in place.

Engine and performance

The SUV is expected to come powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine generating a maximum power of 156 PS at 5,500 rpm and a peak torque of 230 Nm from 1,750 rpm to 4,000 rpm. Power will be sent to the front wheels via a six-speed wet dual-clutch gearbox.

Exterior

The VT9 has an aggressive front design with a huge octagonal grille edged by two elongated LED headlights and LED DRLs. Adorning the side profile are chrome accents around the windows and dual-tone alloy wheels mated to rugged tyres. The rear profile is equally stunning thanks to wide tail lights and a symmetrical quad-exhaust arrangement.

Interior

The VT9 features an inviting cabin with high-quality materials, thoughtful design elements, and advanced technology, promising a comfortable ride to all occupants. In terms of features, we can expect the following bits -

Just like the Dashing, the Jetour VT9 is also likely to be offered initially as a fully imported CBU model. However, a CKD version may be introduced later in collaboration with Berjaya Assembly in Johor.
