All-new 2022 Audi RS3 duo unveiled, check full details
KUALA LUMPUR: After treating us with a bunch of teaser images and a preview, Audi has finally unveiled the all-new RS3 Sportback and RS3 Sedan. The duo will surely give tough competition to the ongoing Mercedes-AMG A 45 S 4Matic+ performance hatch and the Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 S 4Matic+ compact sedan respectively.
While the RS3 Sportback debuts as a third-generation model, its second-gen for the 2021 RS3 Sedan. Both the RS3 models source their power from a common mill, a 2.5-litre five-cylinder turbocharged TFSI engine making a maximum power output of 400 PS from 5,600 to 7,000 rpm along with a peak torque of 2,250 to 5,600 rpm. The power is sent to all four wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
All this power propels the RS3 Sportback and Sedan to complete the century sprint in 3.8 seconds, that’s 0.3 seconds faster than the previous versions. The top speed is electronically limited to 250 kmph, however it can be optionally raised to 280 kmph. Still not enough? For buyers who need to go even faster, can opt for the RS Dynamic package wherein the top speed is hiked to 290 kmph. Its package also includes ceramic brakes.
Furthermore, the new RS 3 Sportback and RS3 Sedan benefit from standard ‘Torque Splitter’, electronically-controlled multiple-disc clutch packs on each drive shaft; it replaces the previous combo of differential and multi-disc. Meaning, each wheel gets the right amount of torque for any given situation.
