All-new Mazda CX-60 will unbox on March 8

KUALA LUMPUR: The second SUV from the bunch of ‘Mazda five new SUVs’, the CX-60, is set for an official premiere on March 8, 2022, in Europe. But before that, the Japanese automaker gave us one more preview of the model, probably the last one. 

In the latest video teaser, we can see the side profile of the upcoming Mazda CX-60 showing off its graceful proportions.

Just like the earlier teased front end, the official side profile of the SUV also matches up with the images leaked last year. While the CX-60 seems to have proportions similar to the new CX-5; the design is the latest evolution of Mazda’s Kodo design philosophy. 

Among the main exterior highlights are the U-shaped radiator front grille, sharp nose, long bonnet, vertical intakes on the front bumper, side gills, a sporty window line, more prominent rear overhang, a new set of diamond-cut alloy wheels, and L-shaped tail lights.

Mazda has also given a sneak preview of the CX-60 interior. It combines the evolved Kodo design philosophy with the Japanese concept of Ma and the ideas of Kaichô. The former is described as “the calm and dignified beauty of empty space”, while the latter means “the harmony that comes from mixing different materials and textures”.

The minimalistic interior showcases some interesting details on the fabric upholstery in true Japanese craftsmanship. Adding premium appeal to the cabin are maple wood, Nappa leather, chrome details, and Japanese textiles on woven fabrics. 

On the mechanical front, the Mazda CX-60 will be equipped with a plug-in hybrid 2.5-litre four-cylinder mill delivering a combined output of over 304 PS. Other engine offerings are likely to be the straight-six Skyactiv-X gasoline and Skyactive-D diesel with 48V mild-hybrid systems. The SUV underpins a rear-wheel-drive platform.

Mazda CX-60 launch in Malaysia?
