KUALA LUMPUR: BYD Sime Motors has opened a new BYD 3S Centre in Miri, adding sales, servicing and spare parts support for customers in northern Sarawak.
KEY TAKEAWAYS
What is the BYD Miri 3S Centre?
It is a BYD facility offering vehicle sales, servicing and spare parts support under one roof. BYD Sime Motors officially opened the centre on 12 October 2026.What facilities are available at the BYD Miri 3S Centre?
The centre has a five-vehicle showroom, customer lounge, bar counter, discussion room, dedicated vehicle delivery bay and EV charging facilities for BYD sales and service customers.Launched on 12 October, the 12,228 sq ft facility is BYD’s largest 3S centre in Sarawak to date, according to the distributor. It joins the brand’s authorised outlets in Kuching and Sibu, bringing its outlet count in the state to three.
For owners, the main addition is the service capacity. The Miri centre has six service bays and can handle up to 35 vehicles a day, giving BYD a larger aftersales presence in this part of the state.

Five-car showroom and a dedicated service centre
The premises are split between a 5,838 sq ft showroom, which can display five vehicles, and a 6,390 sq ft service centre.
There is also a customer lounge, bar counter, discussion room and a dedicated vehicle delivery bay. EV charging facilities are available for BYD sales and service customers, although the announcement does not specify the charger types or charging speeds.
“The opening of the Miri 3S Centre marks a milestone for BYD in Sarawak. As more customers embrace electric mobility, we want to ensure that our network grows alongside them, with convenient access not only to our vehicles, but also to the service and aftersales care that underpin a positive ownership experience. The new centre gives us greater capacity to serve customers in Sarawak,” said Jeffrey Gan, Managing Director of Sime Motors, Southeast Asia.
The Miri outlet is run by Kah Progression Auto Sdn. Bhd., with 15 employees covering sales and aftersales operations.
The company is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Oriental Holdings Berhad, which has more than 60 years of automotive industry experience across Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei. The BYD dealership adds an EV operation to that background.
Alongside the opening, Kah Progression Auto will hold a roadshow at Bintang Megamall from 16 to 18 October 2026. It will take place at the Ground Floor, East Court in the Old Wing, from 10am to 10pm daily.
More aftersales coverage for East Malaysia
The Miri opening follows the launch of East Malaysia’s first BYD 3S Centre in Kota Kinabalu in December 2024.
With that facility serving Sabah and the new Miri centre adding capacity in Sarawak, BYD Sime Motors is expanding the service infrastructure supporting its East Malaysian customers.
“The opening of the Miri 3S Centre marks another important step in strengthening BYD’s presence in East Malaysia. As EV adoption grows beyond major cities, we want to be closer to our customers and make our products and aftersales support more accessible. Together with our dealer partner, Kah Progression Auto, we look forward to building greater EV awareness and bringing our vehicles and battery technology closer to the local community,” said Jacob Ma, Managing Director of BYD Malaysia.
