Honda Jazz: Features explained
You must be familiar with the Honda Jazz. Everyone is. It has been around in Malaysia for so many years that everyone is well aware of its presence. It is still giving Honda a decent sales figure because of various reasons, a few of which we are going to discuss in this story. It has been a while since the Jazz received any major upgrade for the Malaysian market. At the Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show (KLIMS) 2018 held in November last year, Honda showcased the Jazz Mugen concept.
We got pretty excited about it because the concept gave the Jazz the missing spice. Unfortunately, we don’t know whether or not Honda Malaysia is going to make that available here. Until that happens, we are going to admire the current Jazz. Here are some of its features to do so.
Exterior features
We just said that the Honda Jazz would get its missing spice if it receives the Mugen kit. However, that doesn’t mean it looks boring without it. It is very much like any other Honda car and is capable of demanding a certain bit of attention on the road.
Headlamps and front grille
The headlamps on the Jazz are very Honda-ish. They are wide and broad and give an appealing look to the car. Combine them with the thick front grille, and you’ve got a pretty good-looking machine. And the fact that the grille is smoked in black rather than in chrome makes the Jazz look a bit sportier.
Sporty front bumper
Another element at the front that improves the overall sporty look of the car is the bumper. It has got a few sharp lines. And the angular fog lamp cuts are its best part.
LED daytime running lights
Honda has placed the LED daytime running lights on the bumper of the Jazz. These lights are surrounded by a hint of black treatment which looks great. Also, the area of the bumper around them is very sharp and sporty.
Stylish dual tone alloy wheels
While the side profile of the Jazz has been kept busy by providing a deep and sharp character line that runs through the door handles, the dual tone stylish alloy wheels make things even better.
Rear combi lights and spoiler
It’s a possibility that you might not recognize the Jazz from the front, but you would definitely make it out from the rear because of its signature tail light set up. The rear combi lights are striking, sporty, and impart the Jazz a unique look. Honda has also included a tailgate spoiler which makes a style statement of its own. It even has a third brake light for added visibility.
Interior features
The interior of the Honda Jazz is well put together. It also has a good amount of space considering the size and type of vehicle.
LCD instrument cluster
The LCD instrument cluster or console is one of the eye-catching features that you’d find in the Honda Jazz specs sheet. It is great to look at aesthetically and also provides a lot of information.
Touch controls for AC
To control the AC in the Jazz, you have got this glossy black touch panel. You can adjust temp, air flow, etc. using this panel. It not only looks good but also works brilliantly.
Honda Ultra seats
The Honda Ultra seats give you an advantage of setting them up as per your needs. There are a number of configurations in which you can fold the seats to make extra space for luggage or some extra room to enjoy a lounge-like experience. Also, these seats are very comfortable and provide a good amount of support.
Engine
Under the hood of the Honda Jazz is a 1.5-litre i-VTEC engine which produces 120 PS of max power at 6600 rpm and generates 145 Nm of peak torque that kicks in at 4600 rpm. The engine is very refined and smooth. It comes with only a CVT unit. We would have liked to see a manual gearbox too. Anyways, there is also an ECON driving mode which conserves fuel. Honda claims that its 1.5-litre engine with Earth Dreams Technology is capable of giving a fuel efficiency of 17.24 kmpl.
Safety features
Safety is Honda’s biggest commitment. Therefore, the Jazz comes with numerous safety features like six airbags, vehicle stability assist, emergency stop signal, hill start assist, ABS with EBD and brake assist.
These were some of the key features of the Jazz. Available in four variants, the Honda Jazz price starts at RM 70,242 for the base model. There are five color options - White Orchid Pearl, Crystal Black Pearl, Modern Steel Metallic, Lunar Silver Metallic, and Carnival Red.
