Honda plans to launch 15 new hybrids by 2030; previews new prototypes
KUALA LUMPUR: After cancelling its 0 Series EV lineup, Honda has now decided to step up its game in the hybrid segment. The Japanese automaker has announced its plans to introduce 15 new hybrid models in the global market by the end of 2030.

Photo from HondaDuring a recent global business briefing in Japan, the company unveiled two prototypes of its next-gen hybrid models - the Honda Hybrid Sedan Prototype and the Acura Hybrid SUV Prototype. These models are scheduled to go on sale within the next two years.
New hybrid system arriving from 2027
New Honda models backed by an all-new hybrid system and next-generation platform will hit the roads starting in 2027. The next-generation version of the automaker’s award-winning two-motor hybrid system has been upgraded to improve performance and efficiency. The new hybrid system will -

- Reduce hybrid system costs by 30%
- Deliver a unique Honda driving experience
Additionally, the upgraded hybrid technology will feature a newly developed electric AWD unit that will allow highly precise and responsive motor control.

During the global business briefing, the company also announced the next-generation ADAS (advanced driver assistance system), planned to roll out in 2028. It will assist the driver with vehicle operations such as acceleration and steering, along with route guidance assistance on both expressways and surface roads, based on driver inputs to the navigation system.
According to Honda, the new hybrid models, featuring next-generation ADAS, will offer “joy of driving” with a stress-free and comfortable mobility experience.
Targeting carbon neutrality by 2050
While carefully assessing market conditions and demand trends, Honda aims to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050 as a responsibility of a comprehensive mobility company. To achieve this goal, the automaker is accelerating its multi-faceted approach, including EVs, hybrid vehicles, carbon-neutral fuels and carbon-offset technologies.
