Jeep is ready to make a return in Malaysian market

KUALA LUMPUR: The American company, Jeep is all set to return back to the Malaysian market following a short absence. After facing an issue with the high import prices, the brand failed to see scalability in the present market and called back the remaining stock in the country. According to the reports, the manufacturer will be revived in Malaysia and its official opening is just a couple of months away.

Opting for a full-scale return, Jeep has confirmed a new range of 2019 models with better powertrains starting at 2.0L petrol. While Grand Cherokee is its number one luxury SUV in the market, Jeep announced the new Wrangler with a 3.0-litre EcoDiesel V6 engine to the family. This third generation of the iconic Wrangler produces 263 hp of maximum power and 600 Nm of peak torque, the six-cylinder unit comes mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission.

The carmaker implemented various changes to the new Wrangler, it introduced new-gen water-cooled turbocharger along with redesigned cylinder head intake to increase performance and fuel economy.

Moreover, Compass will come with a new variant called Trailhawk. It is an off-road adaption of Compass with higher ground clearance and Active Drive 4x4 Technology. Powered by a BS-VI 2.0-litre diesel engine, it produces an impressive 170 hp of maximum power and 350 Nm of peak torque matched with a 9-speed automatic transmission. This variant is friendly for both the city and off-road, and it ensures an engaging experience to the user.

The brand has also introduced the all-new Gladiator, it combines the instances and the off-roading capabilities of Wrangler but with a pick-up style truck bed, making it more of a pick-up truck. Gladiator comes with a 3.6-litre V6 engine, producing 285 hp that comes with two transmission options. Transmission options can be selected between a six-speed manual or an optional eight-speed automatic. The carmaker claims that Gladiator is capable of towing up to 3,470 kgs.
