Mercedes-Benz C-Class facelift launched in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: The facelifted Mercedes-Benz C-Class has finally been introduced in the Malaysian market. The car made its debut at the Geneva Motor Show early this year.

The refreshed Mercedes C-Class has been brought in two different variants, that are the C 300 AMG Line and C 200 Avantgarde. It is launched beside the new W205 AMG C 43 4MATIC. The refreshment in the models is very minor, albeit interesting. The revisions on the front include a revised bumper. The bumper design is different in the two trims, where the C 200 has the twin-louvre grille, the AMG Line has it in a diamond pin grille style. The standard headlamps have new internals while the higher spec model comes with the Multibeam LED built with 84 diodes. Also, the wheel design has been revised too.

Mechanically, there is the new M264 engine under the hood. The C 200 runs on a 1.5-litre turbocharged unit that can produce 184 PS of power at 5,800 rpm along with a peak torque of 280 Nm, coming between 3,000 to 4,000 rpm. The C 300 AMG Line gets the bigger 2.0-litre turbocharged motor which makes 258 PS of power and 370 Nm of torque. Both the engines have the same transmission unit, a 9-speed 9G-Tronic unit.

On the inside, there is a new steering wheel, a central display measuring 10.25-inch and a full HD resolution 12.3-inch instrument screen. Other important inclusions are the Audio 20 GPS infotainment, Keyless Go, Google’s Android Auto and Apple’s CarPlay. There is a parking assist with camera, Speedtronic Cruise Control, and a Blind Spot Monitoring system, the latter works at a speed of anywhere between 10 kmph to 200 kmph.

The Mercedes-Benz C 200 rides on 18-inch wheels while the C 300 has bigger and better 19-inch units. Also, there is an addition of a surround view camera and a panoramic sunroof on the top spec. The smaller variant has been priced at RM 259,888 and the bigger AMG Line model gets a tag of RM 304,888 OTR without the insurance.
