Renault Megane RS facelift spied testing

KUALA LUMPUR: It was only a while back that the ongoing Renault Megane RS made it to the market. To be precise, it has been only 2-years since the Megane IV based hatch made its debut. Meanwhile, the French automaker has introduced the Trophy trim with additional 20 PS and 30 Nm, and then there was the Trophy-R that reclaimed the ‘FWD King of the Ring’ title that earlier belonged to Honda Civic Type R.

The spy shots reveal that the new facelift version gets limited exterior updates that come in the form of slightly tweaked headlamps and revised taillights internals. The wheels might also get updated for the upcoming version. Bodywork including the bumpers at both ends appears unchanged on the spied car spotted recently.

Likewise, some major equipment like the powerplant is expected to be carried forward in the facelifted Megane RS. So, there will be a 1.8-litre in-line turbocharged unit powering the new Megane RS. Sending power to the wheels will either be a 6-speed manual or 6-speed EDC dual-clutch automatic transmission unit.

Similar to the ongoing model, this one will also feature different outputs. Further, the facelift will also feature the same chassis set up along with the 4Control four-wheel steering system.

We are expecting to see a few changes on the equipment front like an updated infotainment display, a new cabin trim, and dashboard layout. Also, Trophy-R might continue to be the range-topping trim in the Megane RS lineup. All this remains to be seen as the facelift model is slated to arrive in the showrooms by the end of this year.
