Things we like

Being one of the best manufacturers of lifestyle pickups across the world, the Ford Ranger Raptor looks even more brutal and aggressive over the standard Ford Ranger, which itself is a great looking off-road vehicle. The raised stance, as well as off-road visual elements, does give the Ranger Raptor a very intimidating personality, which is enough to put some premium SUVs to shame.

The Ford Ranger Raptor not only looks indestructible but also feels like one. The off-road worthy pickup truck boasts of solid build quality, which makes it look and feel safe and secured when seated inside it.

A mighty pickup truck deserves a mighty heart as well, and thankfully, the Ford Ranger Raptor has been bestowed with one. Powered by a 3.2-litre five-cylinder diesel engine which is mated to an advanced 10-speed automatic gearbox, the Ford Ranger Raptor has powerful performance despite the fact that it is the heaviest pickup truck in its category.

Putting all the pickup trucks together, the Mitsubishi Triton happens to be the sleekest looking of all of them. The front horizontal grille, with the chrome garnish tapering down towards the fog lamps, give a sharp character to the front fascia of the Triton, thus making it look very different from all other bulky looking pickups.

With a robust chassis under its skin and Mitsubishi’s prowess in off-road vehicle engineering, the Triton has been bestowed with an excellent four-wheel-drive system. The system is also very handy to use, thanks to the rotary-style knob on the centre console.

For a pickup truck, the Mitsubishi Triton is generously equipped with some really nice and premium features, which are generally found in luxury SUVs. Features like full LED headlamps, cruise control, touchscreen infotainment system with Apple Carplay and Android Auto and roof-mounted AC vents do give the Mitsubishi Triton a premium appeal of a midsize SUV.

Things we don't like

The engine feels rock-solid and mightily powerful on paper as well as on tarmac. However, the engine is not too impressive when it comes to refinement and NVH levels. The engine feels noisy, with some of the noise intruding in the cabin as well, something which a premium lifestyle pickup like Ranger Raptor shouldn’t have in the first place.

The Ford Ranger Raptor feels like a king when driven off the road and worst of the surfaces. However, the same suspension and steering setup feels crude and rough on plush road surfaces, with the overall ride quality being a bit bouncy. Also, the humongous turning radius means that driving the Ranger Raptor on a daily basis is not a child’s play.

Being a pickup primarily oriented towards off-road driving conditions, the ride quality of Mitsubishi Triton is not as plush as a midsize sedan or SUV. The suspension feels bouncy at times, while there is a slight amount of body roll at higher speeds.

The Mitsubishi Triton is powered by a 2.5-litre diesel engine, which is quite powerful and gets the job done. However, it lacks the refinement of modern diesel engines and is slightly noisy at higher rpms.

With a turning radius of 5.9 meters and long wheelbase, the Mitsubishi Triton feels a bit cumbersome to drive in tight city traffic conditions.
