JAC T9

The 2025 JAC T9 gets premium leather upholstery with diamond-stitching on both seats and door panels. It’s available in black or brown. The perforated leather front seats feature six-way electric adjustment (driver and passenger). The eight-way electric and six-way adjustability allows fine-tuning, although thigh support could be improved. The driving position could seem a bit cramped for taller riders. Comfort on the rear seat is above average with generous legroom, a fold-down armrest, and air-conditioning vents. The dashboard is dominated by a 10.4-inch vertical touchscreen. It supports wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and is connected to a six-speaker audio system. The software function isn’t flashy. There are tactile physical climate controls buttons below the screen. A 7.0-inch digital instrument cluster shows speed, revs, fuel range, and trip data. But it lacks comprehensive info displays. High-touch surfaces like the dashboard-top and door armrests are soft-touch. These are complemented by leather and metallic trim. The lower sections get hard plastic. The cabin’s fit and finish is solid. There are no rattles. But some materials feel cost-conscious.

The 2025 JAC T9 measures 5,330 mm in length, 1,965 mm in width, and 1,920 mm in height. It has a wheelbase of 3,110 mm. These lend the car a bold road presence and plenty of cabin close-proximity space. The grille is a large vertical-bar setup with chrome accents, drafted in Japan and Italy. The car gets all-around LED lighting. Slim daytime running lights (DRLs) are integrated into the headlamp clusters. The base models comes with black plastic bumpers that blend into wheel arch cladding. Higher trims get a painted or chrome-accented bumper. Pronounced black plastic arches frame chunky two-tone 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels wrapped in all-terrain tires. There are integrated robust rocker-panel side steps, iron rock-sliders on all-terrain trims, heated auto-folding outside mirrors with indicator strips and chrome door handles on upper trims. Sporty roof rails and a shark-fin aero antenna are common across trims. The cargo bed is 1,000 kg. Towing capacity is up to 3,500 kg. The steel cargo bed gets a factory-fitted factory bedliner, tie-down hooks, flared guards, and an optional chrome sports bar.

The 2025 JAC T9 is mounted on a traditional ladder-frame chassis. The pickup gets double-wishbone front and coil springs, with leaf-spring rear setup geared for cargo-carrying and off-road duties. On paved roads, the ride is rather firm and bumpy, with the suspension struggling over uneven tarmac, making it feel old-school compared to modern pickup trucks. Under heavy load or rugged surfaces, the ride smoothens, and the chassis stays composed. The steering wheel is direct, accurate, and responsive. But it doesn’t have much of feedback. Body roll stays in check, courtesy the double-wishbone front end.

The entry-level model of the 2025 JAC T9 is hauled by a turbocharged, four-cylinder, 2.0-litre diesel engine that produces 168 PS/410 Nm. The motor is mated to a smooth-shifting ZF eight-speed automatic and part-time BorgWarner four-wheel-drive, making the vehicle capable both on-road and off. The 2025 JAC T9 manages long trips with ease. On city roads, turbo lag is noticeable at low revs. Throttle response in Eco and Normal mode is relaxed. It’s sharper in Sport mode. The transmission is seamless. 

The 2025 JAC T9 gets a 360-degree surround-view camera. It also gets a reverse parking camera along with sensors. The front and rear sensors aid obstacle awareness during parking. A driver monitoring camera detects inattention or drowsiness and issues alerts. The car comes with an entire driver-assist suite.

The 2025 JAC T9 has a starting price of RM 119,888. The pickup combines rugged capability with surprising refinement, making it a strong contender in the pickup segment. It’s packed with solid features, decent comfort, and competitive pricing. But JAC is a new brand is yet to establish a countrywide network.
