Honda RS 150R - Reasons to buy

Honda RS 150R - Reasons to buy

The streets of Malaysia are filled with underbone motorcycles. These vehicles are extremely popular in the country because of various reasons - they are easy on the pocket, practical, lightweight, and easily rideable. Their number is growing at such a fast rate that manufacturers started putting in more style along with practicality to lure in more customers.

 Honda RS 150R EXTERIOR

Honda Malaysia has got plenty of underbone offerings starting from just RM 4,275. If you are looking for buying a new one, do have a look at Honda’s catalogue. Chances are that you are going to find exactly what you need. Today, we are going to pay heed to one of the most popular underbone motorcycles from Honda, the RS 150R. Here are a few reasons why you should consider buying it.

LED headlamp

It is nice to see Honda keeping its underbone products up to date. The RS 150R here gets an LED headlamp which not only provides better illumination in the dark but also consumes less power at the same time. This also extends the battery life.

Instrument cluster

You can tell that Honda wanted the RS 150R to be more than just an underbone motorcycle by looking at its instrument cluster. It has a large analogue tachometer which looks quite sporty and provokes the riding enthusiast in you. The redline sits at 10,000 rpm! Along with this analogue tacho, there is a small digital display as well which shows information like speed, fuel level, etc. Heck, it even has a gear position indicator!

Sporty looks

Even though the Honda RS 150R is an underbone motorcycle, it doesn’t have to be boring and dull. Honda has done a good job in making sure that this vehicle doesn’t get lost in the crowd. The RS 150R looks quite sporty from every angle. The fairing at the front has a sharp design with a faux air intake. This fairing combined with the headlight design looks pretty neat.

Honda RS 150R looks

The side view of the RS 150R continues to show off its sporty character. The fairings here are sharp too and with the attractive bold graphics and decals and the exhaust, it manages to pull in many eyeballs. Even the tail section of the RS 150R has been designed to keep things alive. Another feature that we think plays a key role in keeping the overall design together is the alloy wheels. These multi-spoke wheels look pretty cool.

Attractive color options

The color of a vehicle can enhance or diminish a vehicle’s visual appeal. That’s why Honda has provided some striking color options for the RS 150R. We have Candy Red, Pearl Magellanic Black, and Pearl Nightfall Blue. And if you are a MotoGP fan, then Honda has got you covered as there is even a special REPSOL edition colour scheme too.

Peppy engine

The Honda RS 150R specs list a 149.7cc single-cylinder engine which has four valves and is water-cooled. It also features a double overhead cam (DOHC) setup for enhanced performance and fuel economy. Honda has also fitted a fuel injection system so that you experience crisp and precise throttle response. As far as the figures are concerned, this engine is tuned to churn out a max power of 15.6 hp at 9000 rpm and 13.5 Nm of peak torque that kicks in at 6500 rpm. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox and not a CVT unit which should be a welcoming feature for the enthusiasts out there.

Ride quality and handling

Honda is known for its ultra-smooth and refined engines and the one here in the RS 150R is no less. The vibrations are minimal and very well controlled. Riding this for long hours wouldn’t make your butt go numb by the vibrations. Also, the suspension setup (telescopic forks at the front and a Kayaba monoshock at the rear) is tuned to provide a plush and comfortable ride. It soaks in bumps and potholes decently well. And if the hidden enthusiast in you wakes up, the RS 150R is capable to clock a top speed of 122 kmph which is pretty impressive for such a vehicle. Since the RS 150R weighs just 122 kg, riding it through the crowded streets is a breeze. It’s agile and nimble and can easily cut through the traffic.

Braking performance

Honda has not compromised in this department. The RS 150R comes equipped with disc brakes on both the ends. At the front, there is a larger 296 mm rotor and at the back, we have a 190 mm disc. The overall braking performance is pretty impressive.

These were the reasons why you should consider buying the RS 150R. In an overcrowded segment, this will be a good choice if your budget is around RM 8000 because the Honda RS 150R price is just shy of that. Do let us know what do you think of it.
