Lotus Emeya

A huge departure from the stripped-down cabins of Lotus sports cars from the past, the Emeya has an opulent and feature-rich cabin, with most of the elements and features shared with the Eletre hyper-SUV.  For the Malaysian car market, the Lotus Emeya is being offered with two dual-tone leather upholstery options – black and beige and black and tan.

The presence of new-age full-TFT screens – 12.6-inch instrument console, 15.1-inch central infotainment system, 55-inch head-up display, and 12.6-inch co-passenger infotainment system – make the cabin of the Lotus Emeya look futuristic. The passengers inside feel cocooned with the plush, fully-electrically adjustable seats which also get five massage modes.

Even the rear seats have a 9-inch touchscreen for controls and massaging functions. Additional features of the Emeya are a 23-speaker KEF audio system, a panoramic glass roof with frosting function, a wireless charger, and multi-zone automatic climate control.

Inspired by the Evija and Eletre, the Lotus Emeya molds the brand’s porous design language into a five-door hyper grand tourer. Highly aerodynamic in appearance, the Lotus Emeya has a tremendous road presence with its over 5-metre length and sloping roofline towards the rear.

The Lotus Emeya's front profile is heavily inspired by that of the Eletre SUV. The Grand Tourer has LED headlamps integrated into the corners of the front bumper, with double L-shaped LED DRLs placed above them. These headlamps are accompanied by air ducts on the bumper corners, with the centre having a petal active grille.

The blacked-out roof and rearview mirrors, flush-type door handles, body-colored fin on the C-pillar, and alloy wheels (available between 20-inch to 21-inch) do enhance the style statement of the Emeya. The rear profile of the Lotus Emeya also looks dramatic with the full-width LED tail lamps similar to those of the Eletre and an active rear spoiler with two selectable levels.

The top-spec R variant looks the sportiest with a carbon fibre front splitter, roof, rearview mirror caps, Gurney flap of the active rear spoiler, and rear diffuser.

Being a grand tourer, the Lotus Emeya impresses with its driving dynamics, which feel superior thanks to the triple-chamber air suspension with adaptive dampers offered as standard across its variant lineup.

The stiffness of the suspension and powertrain responses can further be altered by the five drive modes on offer – Range, Tour, Sport, Individual, and Track. In addition to these elements, the Lotus Emeya also gets active roll stabilisation and rear-wheel steering for additional prowess in driving dynamics. 

All the variants of the Lotus Emeya come with an all-wheel drive configuration with a dual-motor setup, but there are differences in the way they perform. The setup in the Base and S variants delivers 603 bhp of maximum power and 710 Nm of maximum torque while claiming 250 kmph top speed and 4.2 seconds for the 0-100 kmph run.

Meanwhile, the top-spec R variant claims 905 bhp of maximum power, 985 Nm of maximum torque, 256 kmph top speed, and 2.8 seconds for the 0-100 kmph run. The standard 102kWh NMC battery across the range delivers a range of 610 km in the Base, 540 km in the S, and 435 km in the R variants. This battery is compatible with up to 400kW DC fast charging, with which it takes 14 minutes for a 10-80 percent charge.

Powered by dual Nvidia Drive Orion chips, the driving assist functions of the Lotus Emeya include autonomous emergency braking, traffic sign recognition, blind spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control with stop and go, lane centring assist, front and rear cross-traffic alert, rear collision warning, a 360-degree camera and park assist. Other essentials like eight airbags, ABS with EBD, front and rear parking sensors, electronic stability control, hill start assist, hill descent control, and tyre pressure monitoring system are also there.
