6 Series Gran Turismo is available in 4 different colors - Alpine White, Carbon Black, Sophisto Grey Xirallic and Bluestone Metallic.
Taking its GT badge a notch above, BMW came up with the 6-Series Gran Turismo, which was the first GT model based on the platform of the swanky 6-Series coupé. The Malaysian market has got the BMW 6-Series Gran Turismo in a single 630i variant, which gets a petrol automatic powertrain as standard.
The entire cabin of the BMW 6-Series Gran Turismo looks much similar to that of the 5-Series sedan, with a wonderful combination of black and light beige with brushed aluminium and wood inserts uplifting the ambience of the car.
The three-spoke multi-functional steering wheel from the M-range of BMWs and the full TFT instrument console with simple dials combine to make a classy looking driver’s cockpit. The centre console comes with a trapezoidal theme for the free-standing touchscreen infotainment system, AC vents and the control panel for the dual-zone automatic climate control.
There is a fine layer of wood separating the dashboard into two partitions, with more wooden finish in the central tunnel which houses the piano black finished transmission lever and drive mode selector.
Tipped with brilliant comfort and convenience features, the BMW 6-Series Gran Turismo feels properly luxurious. However, the space at the rear is a bit questionable as the high transmission tunnel in the middle and sloping roofline do make the rear seat space a bit cramped and best suited for four people in total.
The Gran Turismos from BMW have created a nice space for themselves with their fastback design wrapped in a luxurious avatar, and the 6-Series Gran Turismo is no different. It shares its exterior design with the previously available 3-Series GT and 5-Series GT, with its own share of small design elements.
The BMW 6-Series Gran Turismo looks quite gigantic from the front, with the wide double kidney grille with chrome surrounds along with the wing-shaped full LED headlamps adjacent to them on either side giving it a glorious presence. The front bumper gets sporty looking air dams which do cover it up completely.
The side profile of the BMW 6-Series Gran Turismo has got that unmistakable GT silhouette with a curvaceous roofline that slopes down all the way to the last edge of the boot lid. The large 20-inch wheels along with a sharp L-shaped character line on the doors give it an elegant stance.
The tail lamps with LED inserts and the boot lid design looks more like an evolution of those of the rear design of the 5-Series sedan. The chrome-tipped dual exhausts as well aa retractable boot lid spoiler increase its sporty appeal even more.
The BMW 6-Series Gran Turismo comes blessed with BMW’s well-renowned reputation of good driving dynamics, and has dynamic damper control which does allow the adjustment of the suspension settings. It also has got the M Sports steering with Servotronic as well as M Sport suspension, which tautens the ride and handling balance even more.
The powertrain employed for the BMW 6-Series Gran Turismo is the same 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine that powers a range of other BMWs including the X3 and 5-Series sedan.
Paired to a 7-speed automatic gearbox, the engine pumps out quite impressive numbers – 258 PS of maximum power and 400 Nm of peak torque output. With this engine, the BMW 6-Series GT is able to touch the 100 kmph mark in just 6.3 seconds, with the top speed limited at 250 kmph.
The BMW 6-Series has got some nice safety features up its sleeve like lane departure warning, approach control warning, heads up display, person warning with light city braking, high beam assistant, speed limit info, park assist, camera-based cruise control, traffic jam assistant, hill descent control, airbags all around and ABS with EBD and brake assist.
The BMW 6-Series Gran Turismo has got a great road presence with the styling being one of a kind. And with all the attributes like a luxurious cabin full of features and great ride and handling balance, the BMW 6-Series Gran Turismo takes the premium quotient to a new height.
BMW 6 Series Gran-Turismo is one of the most premium cars present in the carmaker’s lineup and I wanted a car that not only looks premium but drives like a performance vehicle. When it comes to performance, the name of BMW is surely taken and that’s when I decided to go for the BMW 6 Series Gran-Turismo. After driving it
My family was in the market for a luxury sedan and had narrowed down on the E Class and 5 Series. Those are great cars no doubt, but they were all too familiar in their design. I then had a look at the BMW 6 Series GT. It offered everything the sedans did but in a slightly different exterior package.
