Lotus Emira

The cabin of the Lotus Emira, in a true supercar fashion, resorts to minimalism but is high on visual drama and tech. The all-black cabin of the Emira is wrapped in premium Alcantara leather, which is well-contrasted with silver and carbon fibre inserts all over.

The driver’s cockpit of the Lotus Emira has a three-spoke multi-functional steering wheel, which has satin chrome detailing on the lower spoke, touch-sensitive controls, and flattened upper and lower surfaces. Behind the steering wheel, the Emira gets a full-TFT 12.3-inch instrument console sitting within a layered housing. The clean and edgy-looking dashboard of the Emira has a 10.25-inch rectangular touchscreen infotainment system equipped with Android Auto and Apple Carplay. Between the seats and the engine compartment at the back, the Emira features a 359-litre trunk space.

Lotus has always come up with supercars that can strike the chords of several hearts with their aerodynamics and styling which are supercar-like, yet not too overdramatic. There is a sense of subtlety in the overall look of the Lotus Emira, which makes it a classy design to look at.

At the front, the Lotus Emira features a well-sculpted bonnet with vents guiding over the body to optimize aerodynamics. To make the front profile even more aerodynamic in its appeal, the front bumper of the Emira has a large air dam in the middle and air curtains in its corners. Beside the haunches alongside the vents on the bonnet, the Emira gets vertically-aligned all-LED headlamps, which have a wing-inspired twin-blade design.

Move towards the side of the Lotus Emira, and you will love the sense of continuity and fluidity in the curves above the rounded wheel arches of the car. The door panels have sculpted sections cut into them that lead air flow towards the intake placed ahead of the rear wheels, which also help in keeping the engine cool, apart from feeding air for combustion of fuel in it. The Lotus Emira gets 20-inch forged alloy wheels, which come wrapped with low-profile rubbers specially-developed for the supercar.

The sharply-flowing roofline of the Lotus Emira ends up on the widely-designed rear profile of the supercar, which hides the engine behind it. The entire rear profile of the Lotus Emira is covered by the massive rear bumper, which merges with the well-sculpted rear spoiler above the sleek LED tail lamps, which have C-shaped LED inserts and are linked by an LED-powered strip. There are curved air intakes on the edges of the rear bumper, which also comes with a huge gloss black diffuser with twin exhaust pipes integrated into it.

The Lotus Emira features two different settings for chassis and suspension setups – ‘Tour’ for regular road use, which focuses more on comfort while not compromising on dynamics and handling, and ‘Sports’ for enhanced driving dynamics with a stiffer tune. The specially-crafted Goodyear Eagle F1 Supersport tyres for the Emira offer a balance of all-weather usability and ride quality, while there are also Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres for extreme grip levels in track performance.

The Lotus Emira will be available with two engine options. The more powerful one is a 3.5-litre supercharged V6 engine, which develops 405 PS of maximum power and 420 Nm of maximum torque. The Emira is also available with an AMG-tuned 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged inline-four engine, which is regarded as the most powerful four-cylinder engine. Here in the Emira, it makes 364 PS of maximum power and 430 Nm of maximum torque.

Apart from the must-have features like airbags, sensors, and cameras, the Lotus Emira is also well-equipped with advanced driver assistance systems like automated emergency braking, lane departure warning, and adaptive cruise control.

The Lotus Emira is the last supercar from the carmaker to have an internal combustion engine, though the Emira proves to be a fitting tribute to the ICE era with astonishing performance, agile driving dynamics, and an aerodynamic design which is beautiful to look at.
