The Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe has been introduced in the Malaysian market to give a more upmarket and luxurious feel over the entry-level GLC Coupe, with the same dramatic visual appeal of an SUV-Coupe, but in a larger form. The Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe has been launched in Malaysia with two engine options to choose from.
On the inside, the Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe looks very much modern and futuristic and follows the latest of design ethos, unlike the smaller GLC Coupe.
The dashboard welcomes a large 12.1-inch full TFT coloured screen, which incorporates digital dials for instrument console as well as the swanky looking infotainment system, which also features the latest of MBUX intuitive system with enhanced voice commands. The entire LCD panel is surrounded by horizontally laid trapezoidal design garnish on both of its sides.
While the multi-functional steering wheel with premium looking silver touches has been shared with the GLC Coupe, the centre console here looks entirely different with a wide layout consisting of four rectangular AC vents placed besides each other in the lower layer of the dashboard. This lower layer runs across the width of the dashboard, which enhances the width of the cabin even more.
Bestowed with the latest and richest of comfort and convenience features, the Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe’s cabin is a delight when it comes to sheer opulent appeal. However, this vehicle doesn’t have an incredibly airy and spacious cabin, as the rear seats feel tight when it comes to knee room and shoulder room.
If you have particularly liked the revised front fascia of the new GLE SUV, it is confirmed that you will like that of the new Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe too, as both the vehicles share their front fascia completely.
At the front, the Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe welcomes you with its wide appearance via the large hexagonal grille with rounded edges equipped with diamond-like inserts. The revised full LED headlamps sport new layout for daytime running LEDs as well as new LED bulbs, which look swankier and provide better illumination than ever before.
The side profile of the Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe shares a lot with its smaller sibling, the GLC Coupe, which is evident from the way the roofline has been designed, flowing dramatically downwards in the form of a curve. However, the wheel arches are bigger and more squared out here, giving the GLE Coupe a much more muscular appeal.
The LED tail lamps at the rear have become slimmer and pointier, which make the Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe look sleeker when viewed from the rear, especially along with the sharply raked rear windshield.
While the Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe is one bulky looking SUV-coupe, the German marquee has done a terrific job in controlling the body roll with the help of stiffer suspension setup. It features Active Body Control and AirMatic suspension with adaptive adjustable damping and self-levelling feature, giving great driving dynamics and comfortable ride quality at the same time.
One can have the Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe with one of the two powertrain options, both of which are diesel-powered and are paired to a 9-speed automatic gearbox. The smaller 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine in the GLE 350 puts up 255 PS of power and 370 Nm of torque. On the other hand, the bigger 3.0-litre inline-six diesel in the GLE 450 pumps out 365 PS of power and 500 Nm of torque.
The Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe is adequately equipped with the latest safety features, consisting of front, side and curtain airbags, attention assist, pre safe assist systems, blind spot assist with exit warning system, predictive brake priming, automatic brake drying, hill start assist, electronic stability control, traction control, ABS with EBD and more.
With a more futuristic and opulent cabin, swankier looks on the outside and bigger dimensions, the Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe have an upper hand over the GLC Coupe. It offers a more luxurious and sensible package with the dynamics of an SUV and desirability of a sports coupe.
If you stress upon style and sophistication I am sure you will love this car. The look of the car is quite luxurious and that is the major attraction about it. But of course with every pro comes some cons. Like the roofline of the car is quite sloping. That will reduce the cargo space within. In fact, if you
So, I bought a Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class Coupe in January 2019 and it was all like a fairytale until the driver’s seat and steering controls stopped working. I mean, the controls went off and the seat won’t adjust anymore. Took the SUV to the service centre and they got both the seat and steering controls working in 30 minutes or so.
