2019 Toyota RAV4 offered with TRD and Modellista body kits in Japan
KUALA LUMPUR: Japan’s car market is no stranger to the culture of car modifications and wild aftermarket body kits. These can range from extravagantly-designed custom wheels and exquisite paint options to performance-oriented modifications such as upgraded ECUs, sportier shocks, and race-spec aero kits. It seems like Toyota didn’t want its customers to feel left out when looking to spec-up their crossover SUV, so they’ve decided to jump right into this melee. Toyota of Japan is now offering customers of the new 2019 RAV4 with exciting accessories straight from the factory. These RAV4-specific accessories are made available by experts from the houses of TRD and Modellista.
The TRD-spec 2019 Toyota RAV4 is offered in two disguises, namely the Field Monster and Street Monster. As the name suggests, the former has been kitted out to make it look off-road ready with upgraded and tougher-looking bumpers with integrated LEDs, extended plastic wheel arches, rugged 17-inch alloy wheels wrapped by off-road-ready tyres, TRD branded mud flaps, a massive roof rack, and a gazillion TRD decals. On the other hand, the Street Monster package gets the RAV4 some aggressive body kit that includes sporty front and rear bumpers. These feature comprehensive aero treatment by the way of a front-lip spoiler and rear air diffuser along with some ground-hugging side skirts. The Street Monster also incorporates massive 20-inch TRD TF X-Limited wheels, enlarged fenders, LED lighting, and custom exhaust tips.
Just like TRD, Modellista is also offering the 2019 RAV4 in two flavours. While one’s called the Urban Solid Strider, the other is the Jaos package. The former equips the RAV4 with swanky 19-inch alloy wheels, plus custom bumpers and sporty skirting all around to aid in achieving better aero. Also included is a pair of cool-looking LED lights integrated into the chin spoiler and grittier-design for the grille. The Jaos-spec RAV4 is perhaps the most eye-catching of them all, and it’s quite similar in its mods to the TRD Field Monster. The Jaos features beefed-up bumpers with integrated bash plates and LED lights at the front, while the bonnet is decked with LEDs as well. There’s also extensive lower-body cladding, protective panels on the C-pillar, enlarged fenders and 20-inch rims shod with Toyo rubber.
