2020 Audi RS6 Avant officially announced for America

KUALA LUMPUR: The high-performance division of the German automobile manufacturer, Audi Sport has confirmed the new RS6 Avant will come to the US market later in 2020. The automaker also announced that fourth-generation car would come with a V8 mill and a mild-hybrid powertrain.

Product Manager of the RS6, Michael Binder said, “This is what our customer wants to have. He or she wants to have a car for 365 days a year, for all situations: for the daily trip to the office, but can also take the whole family skiing on the weekend,” Also, he added, “It really is a perfect car for daily usability.”

The C8-generation RS6 Avant will feature a 4.0-litre bi-turbo petrol V8 engine, that can make a maximum power of 600 PS, and the peak torque is 800 Nm. It is an eight-speed automatic transmission that sends power to the wheels. The car is equipped with the all-wheel-drive system. Starting from stationary, the car can achieve a speed of 100 kmph in just 3.6 seconds, while 0 to 200 kmph is done in 12 seconds.

The maximum speed that the car can attain is 250 kmph, while the carmaker offers two different levels as the option to increase the maximum speed. First is Dynamic package that helps the car to achieve a maximum speed of 280 kmph, while on the other hand,  the Dynamic package plus take the maximum speed to 305 kmph.

As it comes to electrification, it has a lithium-ion battery where 12 kW of electricity regeneration can be stored and a belt starter-generator activates it. 

Inside the car, the Audi virtual cockpit features the RS graphics. The driver will be able to get an update on the tyre pressures, engine oil temperature, torque and power outputs, boost pressure, acceleration measurements, g-forces and lap times. 

As for braking, the car comes with RS ceramic brake system that has 440 mm discs at the front, while the 370 mm has taken place at the rear. Moreover, the standard steel brake system uses 420 mm disc at the front, while the 370 mm unit is present at the back.
