Audi A2 e-tron compact EV breaks covers - 326 PS power, 646 km range

KUALA LUMPUR: Audi has pulled the wraps off the all-new A2 e-tron for the global markets as its smallest electric model. Based on the Volkswagen Group’s MEB platform, the Audi A2 e-tron is the most efficient Audi model in the company’s history, with energy consumption of just 12.8 kWh per 100 km.

    Exterior 

    The A2 e-tron is a four-door electric hatchback with a coupe-style roofline. The upright front is equipped with split LED headlamps, wing-shaped electric door handles with haptic sensors and newly developed aero-focused wheels. The rear end has a slim glass area with wraparound LED tail lights. 

    With a wheelbase of 2,770 mm and aerodynamically optimised surfaces, the EV has a drag coefficient of 0.24, delivering the best value in Audi’s compact segment.

    Interior

    The cabin boasts a minimalist design with a curved panoramic display combining an 11.9-inch digital instrument cluster with a 12.8-inch MMI touchscreen. It offers the brand’s latest digital services, including the Audi assistant and e-tron route planner. The centre console gets a smartphone charging tray that can charge two mobiles simultaneously. 

    The EV also features a four-spoke steering wheel with a drive mode selector stalk, 1.6 square metres panoramic glass roof, a 14-speaker Sonos premium sound system (7 speakers as standard), ambient lighting, and the optional augmented reality head-up display. As for upholstery, there is a soft, “fabric-covered surface” called Softwrap that wraps the dashboard and door panels.

    The Audi A2 e-tron has a luggage capacity of 396 litres, which is expandable up to 1,336 litres with the rear seats folded down.

    The top-spec version supports up to 183 kW DC fast-charging speeds, juicing up 10 to 80 percent battery in 29 minutes. 

    As for suspension, the EV gets either comfort suspension or sport suspension, along with four driving modes (Comfort, Balanced, Efficiency and Dynamic), three levels of regenerative braking and a one-pedal driving mode. 

    The EV is touted as the most efficient Audi model with energy consumption of just 12.8 kWh/100 km and a range of up to 646 kilometres.
