2021 VW Arteon R wagon seen undisguised in Germany

KUALA LUMPUR: Only a few days back, Volkswagen revealed the 2021 Arteon lineup that included a sleek wagon, R, and plug-in hybrid options. And now, we see the Arteon R wagon parked uncovered at a street in Germany. The news was first reported by Autohome, a Chinese publication.

The pictures we see here will give you an idea as to how the Arteon R Shooting Brake would look like in the real world. The car gets a sloped, coupe-like roofline, a sleek front grille (illuminated option available) that’s integrated seamlessly into the headlamps, wide air intakes, prominent wheel arches, and wraparound taillights.

On the inside, the 2021 Arteon gets a redesigned dashboard and centre console. On the tech front, it features VW’s new MIB3 infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, and an 8.0-inch touchscreen.

Under its wide hood rests a 2.0-litre turbo petrol four-cylinder engine producing 315 hp of maximum power. It is paired with a dual-clutch automatic gearbox (DSG). In the base and plug-in hybrid trim, the mill produces 268 hp and 215 hp of power respectively. As per CarAdvise, like the R model, these two variants will also feature the DSG transmission.
