2022 Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing: Full details

Cadillac is General Motors premium brand that's one of BMWs genuine rivila. It has a performance sub-brand as well that goes by the name V-Series that's been in a constant rift with BMW M range of super sedans. The latest model joining the Cadillac's V-Series lineup is the 2022 CT4-V Blackwing. But that's not all, Cadillac has also introduced the larger CT5-V Blackwing model.

2022 Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing Performance

The ongoing 2.7-litre four-cylinder turbocharged mill is replaced by ATS-V's 3.6-litre twin-turbo V6 power plant. The unit pumps out a maximum power of 427 hp and a peak torque of 603 Nm. With the new power unit, the car covers 0 to 100 kmph trip in just 3.8 seconds and attains a top speed of 304 kmph.

Sending power to the wheels is a specially-tuned 10-speed automatic transmission with Dynamic Performance Mode. Fitted as standard option is a six-speed manual gearbox. Alos, the row-your-own transmission gets a rev-matching function, a twin-disc clutch, and shorter ratios.

The turbo has been redesigned by the automaker, it now features low-inertia titanium-aluminium turbine wheels that calls for more responsive and precise torque delivery. The optimised compressors deliver maximum efficiency at peak power and the redirected piston oil squirters improve temperature control.

The Blackwing models come with revised crankshaft and titanium connecting rods to reduce reciprocating loads on the bearings (main & rod).

Besides the air intake is redesigned to limit restriction by 39 percent and the control system software has also been revised. The water-to-intercoolers have been migrated to the intake - improving torque response and reducing airflow ducting by 60 percent.

2022 Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing Suspension & Handling

The CT4-V Blackwing is fitted with MacPherson strut front suspension that comes with 100 percent elastomer bushing. The rear axle gets stiffer knuckles , lateral link bushings, and cradle mounts. The front and rear handing links get cross-axis ball joints.

All these revisions and more enable the new Cadillac to deliver better steering response, better balance between comfort & handling, enhanced stability, better agility, braking performance, and lateral control.

2022 Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing Design

At the front, the CT4-V Blackwing gets a new grille mesh that not only looks good but also improves the airflow to the coolers, radiators, and ducts. Helping in the process is the set of smaller inlets that reduce pressure while cooling the brakes, and large auxiliary intercoolers. The prominent front splitter reduces lift.

Part of the CT4-V Blackwing exterior kit are front fender vents, small boot-lid spoiler, deeper side skirts, and a rear diffuser with quad square tailpipes. Underneath the floor area are present flat panels and underwing strakes that enhances aerodynamic efficiency. The car stands on 18-inch forged aluminium wheels covered in bespoke Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres that measure 255 mm and 275 mm at front and rear.

The carbon fibre aero package comes optional and includes a massive spoiler, all-around skirting, and front flics, thus reducing lift by almost 214 percent.

2022 Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing Interior

The cabin benefits from a gripper steering wheel, high-performance seats, 14-speaker AKG sound system with lightweight Neodymium magnets, slim headrests, bespoke Track display for 12-inch digital instrument screen, and optional magnesium shifters and Performance Data Recorder 2.0.

So, what are your thoughts on the new Cadillac V-series latest model? Impressive, isn’t it? Well, we can only wish to get behind this sports sedan wheels, and imagine what an exhilarating performance it would be.
