Audi A7 Sportback arrives in Malaysia, priced at RM 610k

KUALA LUMPUR: As for today, Audi Malaysia has launched two cars. First, came the C8-generation A6 and now we have another great car joining the company’s lineup. We are talking about the new A7 Sportback which was showcased at the Audi’s Glenmarie showroom. The production materials are not ready as of now, but it’s for sure that we are getting the new A7.

This car is priced at RM 609,000 (on the road without insurance), and its great news, since the previous-gen model launched in 2015 cost RM 625,900.

The new A7 first surfaced in 2017 and featured all the brand’s latest design cues. The car’s showcases the original proportions of the model and the dimensions have remained mostly the same. The second-gen car measures 4,969 mm in length and 1,908 mm in width (3 mm narrow). The wheelbase is 12 mm shorter at 2,926 mm.

As for the exterior, the Malaysian-spec model will get S line pack that would give the car a sportier appearance. The car benefits for LED headlights, and full-LED taillights. The cabin would remind you of the latest A8 limo, as it showcases all-touch screens and panels. Even, the traditional VW Group headlamp control knob is taken away.

The dashboard features two touchscreen systems, one over the other. The top one, i.e., a 10.1-inch screen is a bit tilted towards the driver; also when switched off, it disappears into the dashboard. The unit below that measures 8.6-inch and is used to control functions like - engine start/stop, climate control, lane keep assist, and heated/ventilated seats.

Powering the car is a 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 engine that produces a maximum power of 340 hp along with a peak torque of 500 Nm. This mill is paired to a 7-speed S tronic dual-clutch transmission and Quattro AWD. The A7 Sportback 3.0 TFSI can do 0 to 100 kmph sprint in 5.3 seconds, and its top speed is electronically limited to 250 kmph. Also, the engine is paired with a new mild hybrid system along with a 48-volt electric system. With belt alternator starter and lithium-ion battery, the V6 can recover around 12 kW of power during braking.
