BYD all-electric Han sedan revealed

KUALA LUMPUR: BYD, the famous Chinese automaker has revealed its all-electric Han sedan that will go up against the Tesla Model 3. The BYD EV will go on sale in its home-market in June, after which it’ll start its international launch journey.

The Han EV is BYD’s electric flagship model and is the first passenger car to feature the brand’s new ‘Blade Battery’ technology. The Chinese automaker claims it to be more spacious and simpler than rival battery packs. Besides, it offers enhanced range and safety.all-electric Han sedanThe company has not revealed any specific technical data or the battery size for the EV, but the company claims it can do 605 kilometres in a single charge - based on the NEDC test cycle. As part of the car homologation process, a Europen-standard WLTP figure will be released in the future.

The BYD Han EV is said to feature “the automotive industry’s most advanced EV technologies with exceptional performance, refinement and supreme luxury”. The Chinese automaker claims that the EV can go from 0 to 100 kmph in 3.9 seconds, thanks to the silicon-motor system put to use. Further, improving range, comfort, and braking precision is Bosch’s latest IPB Intelligent Integrated Brake system.

Technology is the prime focus of the Han EV. It features 5G connectivity that helps smooth running of the car’s DiPilot intelligent drive assistance functions that are said to be self-evolution and self-learning. The cabin gets a large Tesla-style central display and digital dials.

As for BYD’s latest EV design language, the company explains it as “blending elements of a traditional Chinese wagon with strikingly modern European design cues”.
