Chery Tiggo X7 breaks covers in China - Boxy styling, turbo engine options

KUALA LUMPUR: Chery has pulled the wraps off the all-new Tiggo X7 in the Chinese market. As the first model in the brand’s new Tiggo X series, it combines everyday family practicality with solid performance and intelligent technology.

The Tiggo X7 is a  C-segment SUV that measures 4,636 mm in length with a wheelbase of 2,700 mm. It has a rugged and boxy design featuring an upright octagonal-shaped front grille, sleek LED headlights with L-shaped daytime running light graphics, vertical LED light strips in the bumper corners,  and squared fender arches. 

Adding to its outdoor theme is protective-looking body cladding, prominent roof rails, all-terrain tyres and elevated ride height. The SUV is expected to feature a braked towing capacity of 1 500 kg.

The cabin boasts a 5-seater layout with electrically adjustable front seats equipped with heating and ventilation functions. Key highlights include - 

• Wide infotainment touchscreen unit powered by 
• Wireless mobile connectivity
• Large panoramic glass sunroof.
• Level 2.5 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, including Autonomous Emergency Braking 
• 540-degree panoramic surround-view camera 

As per the reports, the Chery Tiggo X7 will be offered in two engine options - 

• 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine, paired with a six-speed automatic transmission, which generates a maximum power of 156 hp and a peak torque of 230 Nm
• 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox, tuned to make 194 hp and 290 Nm

Depending on variant configuration, the engine comes paired with a front- and all-wheel-drive system mated to three drive modes (Eco, Sport and Normal) or six off-road modes (Snow, Mud, Sand, Mountain, Rock and Water Wading).

Alongside the Tiggo X7, Chery also introduced the second-gen Tiggo 7, featuring evolutionary exterior updates and enhanced cabin features. Powertrain details have yet to be announced.
