Fifth-gen Kia Optima sedan coming soon

KUALA LUMPUR: Kia Motors is planning to launch its fifth-generation Optima sedan in Korea next month. The brand has decided to declare the news in style, so it has unveiled more details by creating a microsite, which majorly focuses on enlightening the fine details of its design attributes.

According to Kia, the front fascia of the new Optima is intense. Undoubtedly, the design sketch has undergone some modernised changes. The earlier sketch showcased an aggressive front with a highly contoured nose and a large inlet at the lower end of the face, along with the exaggerated version of the brand’s existing tiger-nose grille. On the other hand, in the new sketch, the sides of the car are quite revealing. The bonnet edge is chamfered with integrated grille all around it. The new design also features a power dome with some prominent lines that will guide the eyes towards the A-pillar.

For the first time in the history of D- segment sedan, Optima has got thick chrome strips all around the rear glass. The main focus lies on its full-width LED tail lights with a V-shaped motif at either end. At the back, the Optima K5 is continuing with its traditional fastback look. Strong shoulder lines, haunches, body-mounted side mirrors, LED turn signals, and an exaggerated twin five-spoke dual-tone alloy wheels remain the prominent features of the K-5, as mentioned on the sketch.

Upcoming Optima also incorporated some innovative and interesting features like piano-key like switchgear, a centrally located stack for climate control, and a gear selector like a rotary dial. Other amazing features include the insertion of carbon fibres at the dash, a centrally split armrest, and three switches just beside the gear selector.
