Ford has released the 2021 F-150 Police Responder pickup

KUALA LUMPUR: The Ford F-150 Responder is based on the latest F-150 and is built to take care of police needs. One of which is being speedy and for that reason its top speed has been increased from previous 169 kmph to 193 kmph. Also, being a police vehicle, it has the ability to move any surface, off- or on-road, with efficiency, thanks to the specially developed Goodyear Wrangler Enforce all-terrain tyres.

The 2021 F-150 Responder comes with a new torque-on-demand transfer case with a 4-Auto mode. On gravel or slippery roads, it goes into four-wheel drive and on the pavement, it automatically switches to rear-wheel drive allowing the pickup to corner better.

Ford is also offering the FX4 Off-Road package as standard that calls for enhanced off-road ability thanks to an electronically locking differential and skid plates.

The 2021 F-150 Responder is powered by a standard 3.5-litre twin-turbo V-6 EcoBoost engine that makes a maximum power of 400 hp and a peak torque of 678 Nm. The power is sent to the wheels via a 10-speed SelectShift automatic transmission.

The key highlight here is the presence of the 'Police Idle' mode that allows the police officer to get out of the vehicle and remove the keys, while the engine is running to power the lights and sirens. Note the battery is not depleting here.

Ford police vehicles integration manager, Allen Magolan said, “4-Auto mode bridges the gap between 2-High and 4-High, and you see performance improvements as a result". He further added, “On dry pavement is where you see the real payoff, because it allows you to carry more speed when cornering – a rare benefit in a pickup truck.”

On the inside, the dashboard tray allows the offices to install aftermarket accessories like radios, radar equipment, lights, and other tools of the trade. Ford fleet management system, the Ford Telematics is also part of the kit and it informs the fleet operator of the driver's behavior.

The SYNC4 with cloud connectivity comes standard and it includes an 8-inch touch display and an embedded modem with wireless updates, allowing officers to receive software updates and avoid unplanned maintenance and service. The instrument cluster benefits from an upgraded 4-inch productivity screen.

The F-150 Police Responder stands out among other law enforcement vehicles, as it offers more interior passenger volume, head-, hip-, and shoulder-room. The front seat bolsters are sized taking care that police officers wearing a duty belt can enter and exit easily.

The all-new F-150 Responder is assembled at the Kansas City Assembly Plant, located in Claycomo, Missouri.
